Crystal Vanguard
Now begins our reviews on the new booster set
Secrets of Eternity.
Hint: It's a pretty weak set overall.
Save your money and don't buy packs or boxes
of it.
Wait for the upcoming sets - "Secret Forces" and
"Crossover Souls"
I used to run CB's
very extensively years back, so I know the
deck pretty well. Vanguard won't revive them, but
it'll give them a nice boost.
The Pendulum effect is great as it nearly ensures
the Crystal Beast monsters will trigger their
effects rather than get hit with something like
Phoenix Wing Wind Blast or Karma Cut.
That's good, but it's slow since Vanguard
doesn't grant you any resources immediately.
The monster effect is a good universal searcher.
It does take up a Normal Summon
unfortunately, but if you can Pendulum Summon it,
that's a +1.
Crystal Beasts need a lot of resources to stay
afloat as it is, and adding Pendulum Summoning
further complicates them, but CB's are better with
Vanguard than without them.

Monday
We open the week with a Pendelum Monster in Crystal
Vanguard. As one might assume or guess, this
is a pretty decent support card for Crystal Beasts.
Which is cool, although I've not seen a Crystal
Beast Deck in a good while. Dark and
Spellcaster are good, Level 3 here is all but
irrelevant. As a Monster Effect, it's great,
it can tribute itself to add any Crystal Beast card
from your Deck to your Hand, including Rainbow or
Rainbow Dark Dragon. As a Pendelum Effect, all
Crystal Beasts, as well again, as either Rainbow or
Rainbow Dark, cannot be targeted by your opponent's
card effects. Nice protection, and welcome for
sure. Crystal Beasts work awfully fast, so
even for a little while helps. If you're
playing Crystals Beasts, or want to, I'd definitely
give this a shot, maybe even in a pair.
Rating:
3/5 Good, not great or game breaking, and maybe
higher if the Crystal Beasts make a comeback.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Crystal Beats get some much-needed support in the
new set with a Pendulum Monster: Crystal Vanguard.
While Crystal Beasts are more-so a fun deck that a
competitive deck, this is a monster that would've
made them more formidable years ago. Spellcaster-Type
doesn't fit much with the Crystal Beast archetype,
and Vanguard's stats are pretty low, but it's DARK
attribute helps.
In the Pendulum Zone, Vanguard is going to give your
Crystal Beasts, Rainbow Dragon, and Rainbow Dark
Dragon protection from being targeted by opponent
card effects. That is a great effect. Not all
Pendulum Monsters have great effects while in the
Pendulum Zone. Protection from being targeted by
opponent card effects give Crystal Beasts a level of
protection they never had. As a monster,
Vanguard can be tributed to search out a “Crystal
Beast”, “Rainbow Dragon”, “Rainbow Dark Dragon”, or
a “Crystal Beast” spell/trap.
You can't lose out with this monster. As a monster,
it will search anything you want for your Crystal
Beasts by tributing him, and in the Pendulum Zone it
will protect your monsters from being targeted by
opponent card effects. Run this guy in 3's in a
Crystal Beast deck. He's too good for the archetype
to ignore, even if you don't Pendulum Summon in the
deck.
