Caius the Mega Monarch
- #SECE-EN035 You can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 Tribute Summoned monster. If this card is Tribute Summoned: Target 1 card on the field; banish it, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, then, if it is a DARK Monster Card, banish all cards with that name from the hand, Main Deck, Extra Deck, and Graveyard of the player who controlled it. If this card was Tribute Summoned by Tributing a DARK monster, add this additional effect.
● You can target 2 cards, instead.

Caius the Mega Monarch
It does have the same strict restrictions as the
other Mega Monarchs (which all suck), but this card
actually has good effects which may very well be
worth the summon.
DARK monsters are popular and well-supported,
making this card all the more summonable for you and
all the more punishing for the opponent.
If you can capitalize on banishing 2 cards
and/or banishing duplicates of your opponent's
cards, it can be crushing.
I'm still not sure it's consistent for
competitive play.

Mega Monarchs...we've done this a few times all
ready. Dark, Fiend, Level 8, 2800 attack and
1000 defense, and can be Tribute Summoned with one
Tribute if said Tribute is a Tribute Summoned
Monster. So he works basically the same as the
Dark Monarch you all ready know and likely played
with/against, if you've been in the game long
enough. But he has also a Chain Destruction
like ability except he removes from play as opposed
to destroy all cards of the same name from the Hand,
Deck, Extra Deck, and/or Graveyard, and if the
chosen card was a Dark attributed Monster, you get
to use said effect on two cards IF you wish.
Each card (or just the one if you desire) inflicts
1000 Damage to your opponent. He's a headache,
just like the rest of the Mega Monarchs. Leave
him alone.

Caius the Mega Monarch
Finally one of the most awaited Mega Monarchs has
arrived, Mega Caius himself, and his effect is most
certainly not too shabby at all.
Like all of the other Mega Monarchs he can be
Tribute Summoned simply by Tributing 1 monster that
was Tribute Summoned, and the Tribute Summoned
monster can also be Tributed for this effect even if
face-down, so your opponent cannot cheat you out of
Caius’es effect by using Book of Moon!
In order to gain the additional effect of Caius, a
Dark monster needs to be Tributed, and in
practically every Monarch Deck this SHOULD be
extremely easy, especially when you consider that
Battle Fader, Gorz the Emissary of Darkness,
Tragoedia and Ghostrick Jackfrost are all very
commonly played cards in Monarch Decks. In a Chaos
Monarch Deck Black Dragon Collapserpent will also be
another option.
Additionally, against any Dark Deck, Enemy
Controller, The Monarchs Stormforth and even Soul
Exchange all come into the mix.
So basically, if you cannot fulfil the additional
effect of Caius the Mega Monarch, you aren’t doing
it right!
And when you do gain this additional effect, you get
to Target 2 cards instead of just the 1, and this
can allow you to really hurt your opponent’s
strategy… However this will only apply if you use
this against Monsters primarily.
As for the Targeting of 2 cards, it is a “Can”
effect, so you don’t have to use it to Target 2
cards if it would end up being a disadvantage to
you… This may come important to remember later game
when lesser cards are on the Field and you don’t
want to be forced to Target your own Mega Caius!
As long as Caius can Banish a card, presuming it
does not get its effect negated or prevented, you
will inflict 1000 LP of damage to your opponent, so
simply Banishing a Spell or Trap card is all that is
needed for you to inflict burn damage… As opposed to
“Normal” Caius who must Banish a DARK monster to do
so.
And no, you don’t get to inflict 2000 LP of damage
if you remove 2 cards, things are never quite that
easy!
Then if you do Banish a Dark Monster(s) you get to
remove them from not just the Field but the Deck,
Extra Deck, Hand and the Graveyard as well!
Against the right Deck, this leaves nowhere for Dark
monsters to hide, and as such against Shaddolls and
Burning Abyss or even Decks that run a small engine
of Dark monsters (such as a Tour Guide Engine) to
provide additional support can really suffer from
the wrath of Caius the Mega Monarch. Lesser played
Decks such as Monarchs of any kind, Ghostrick, Chaos
or Zombies can all be greatly boosted by Mega
Caius’es Banishing effect. There may even be scope
for it to fit into Burning Abyss, however this would
require some testing.
And just when you thought that it was safe to run a
Light-type (or other) Deck, DNA Transplant will most
certainly be a card to consider in the Side Deck.
However as it is a card that hurts the Frog “Engine”
it will be much harder to use it successfully that
Deck.
This is an excellent addition to any Deck that can
Summon it, and actually challenges Mega Mobius for a
space in a Monarch Deck if you can only afford to
run just the 1.
RATING: 4. While it is always going to perform best
against a Dark Deck, the burn damage, it’s attack
strength as well as the ease of which its additional
effect can be gained in the right Deck and if its
effect is used at the correct time, all make this
Mega Monarch extremely dangerous. Definitely a must
have for any Monarch player.

Hello Pojo Fans,
When the “Mega Monarch” archetype was first
reported, everyone couldn't wait to see what Caius
would become...they were not disappointed. Arguably
the most used monarch in the bunch, Caius has
retained his strength in his mega form, and added to
it.
Like all “Mega Monarchs”, Caius has high ATK and low
DEF, and gets its effects when Tribute Summoned.
Banishing 1 card and doing the 1000 Life Point
damage regardless of what card it is is a step up
from the original. If it was a DARK monster banished
that monster is getting banished regardless of where
the opponent may have a copy. Against Shaddolls and
Burning Abyss this effect is an absolute killer.
Ripping any of their DARK monsters from their hand,
deck, graveyard, or extra deck could cripple their
strategy. If a DARK monster is used during the
Tribute Summon (which is very likely) you get double
the pleasure with targeting two cards instead of
one. Target two DARK monsters with this effect and
tear apart your opponents deck, deal 1000 Life
Points, and have a gigantic beater on your side of
the field.
While other “Mega Monarchs” were good, Caius is just
a cut above the rest. Trade-In and Allure of
Darkness help if it is a dad draw, and it has a
laundry list of helpful monsters to use as material
for its Tribute Summon. Caius, The Mega Monarch is
so good it almost makes you not want to use any of
the other evolved monarchs. DARK-based decks can
tech this card in to use against other DARK decks,
and tribute decks get a great monster that can give
them up to a double card removal at the least.
Caius, in a few short words, is the best Monarch,
period.

Hello fair Pojoites, and I do apologize for not
being as active as I would like to have been,
College and stuff(also lack of interest in previous
cards). For today's card, we have, perhaps the most
awaited Mega-Monarch of them all, Caius the Mega
Monarch.
Just like his other Mega buddies, what he does is a
souped up version of the original Caius' effect, and
he can be tribute summoned by tributing a tribute
summoned monster. Basically, you target 1 card to
banish upon summon, and you inflict 1000 damage, and
then, if you banished a Dark Monster, this guy
banishes all other copies from their hand, both
decks, and grave. Also like his brethren, whenever
he is tribute summoned by tributing at least 1 Dark
monster, he gets an additional effect, and in this
case, he gets to target two cards instead of 1.
Its searchable through March of the Monarchs, which
is neat, but is probably not going to see play any
time soon. Being able to protect it through all of
the other Monarch support is cool, and it could
possibly become a coherent deck, with or without
mega Caius.
Now, what is this worth playing in? To be honest,
unless you are playing a Dark deck that can afford
two tributes, Caius basically outclasses this card
in every way. Maybe using something like Ghostrick
Monarchs or Battle Fader. Obviously Shaddolls and
Burning Abyss can use this, but it is probably not
worth it.
Overall, a neat card.
