Honest
#TWED-EN001 LIGHT
Level 4
ATK/1100 DEF/1900
[Fairy/Effect]
During your Main Phase, you can return this card from the field to its owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to have that monster gain ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase.

Honest
Welcome to ban list week!
Some choices we all wanted, some we didn't
and a few we weren't expected.
All in all, a decent-enough list, but quite
tame and unambitious compared to Japan's list.
Honest essentially a 1-for-1 removal option that you
might have to spend on a big floater like Dante or
Construct, but it protects your monsters and helps
keep your life points free from being attacked to
death, and that's important.
Honest can also inflict a nice chunk of
damage (1500+ usually).
This might not matter much in a control-based
duel but will make an impact to help your aggro
plays, especially with two of them.
There are lots of good LIGHT decks out there
like Bujins, Lightsworns and Satellarknights which
can all definitely benefit from an extra Honest.
Quality card all around.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Hope everyone has recovered from the New Years
celebrations and are ready to leap head-first into
2015. Today we're looking at a card that has come
back to 2: Honest.
One of the most well-known “hand traps” in the game,
Honest gives any LIGHT monster the ability to take
down any monster in battle. The ATK boost will help
eliminate the monster you are attacking, or can help
you push through for extra damage (if not a
game-finishing move). The ability to activate this
cards effect on either players turn adds to its
flexibility. As a monster, it has decently strong
DEF that can hold up to an attacking monster.
Honest has the added ability to return itself (while
face-up) back to the hand during either of your Main
Phases. Summon it in Main Phase 1, attack, then
bounce it back to your hand to help protect another
LIGHT monster of yours you may have on the field.
Bujins, Lightsworns, and tellarknights are some of
the many decktypes this card should be run in.
The attack boost Honest can give any LIGHT monster
you run during either players Damage Calculation is
reason enough to play it in a LIGHT-based deck. With
plenty of ways to use Honest multiple times, and the
added benefit of it being semi-limited, LIGHT decks
should run it in 2.

It's a new Forbidden & Limited list and we're
taking a week to look at a few cards that were
affect by this new change. First up is a personal
favorite of mine, Honest. A level 4 LIGHT/Fairy with
the ATK/DEF of 1100/1900. During your main phase,
you can return this card to your hand. When a LIGHT
monster you control attacks or is attacked, during
the damage step, you can discard this card from your
hand and your monster gains attack equal to the
monster it's battling until the end phase of this
turn. Now that this card is back at two, it can make
some kind of impact again. From Lightsworn to Bujin,
Fairies to Batteryman, Honest can give a lot of
decks a much needed boost. You will be seeing this
card this format. a lot of it.

Welcome to Ban List week, always a nice way to
kick off a new year! We open this Ban Week
with Honest, who now finds itself in Semi-Restricted
status. I believe it was Ex Minion of Darkness
who said that when a card sees it's status go down
the Ban List (ie the number of copies you can use
goes up) the less of an impact it has on a Format.
Honest is still good, make no mistake, but as just
referenced, it isn't the force it once was.
Honest is best used as a defense mechanism, but also
a welcome attack option as well. The biggest
Deck it helps would be Lightsworn, which should be
obvious, but things like Stellarknights and Bujins
as well. To turn a phrase, it's an Honest
1-for-1, and things like that are welcome in the
game. A second one at your disposal isn't
going to wreck things at all, it's actually a pretty
solid move on the list.

Honest was just moved from Limited to
Semi-Limited this banlist cycle, although the OCG
adopted this change about a year ago. This card does
a lot, and frankly I’m not sure moving it up was a
healthy move. Any LIGHT Deck can use him, and he
provides a lot of momentum for the player who uses
it; being able to kill any opposing monster while
also taking a large chunk out of your opponent’s
Life Points with just one card is brutal.
The meta is not favorable to Honest right now
though. Currently we’re seeing large numbers of
Burning Abyss, Qliphort, and Shaddoll. The Deck that
would be able to use Honest of those three is
Shaddoll, but it’s not useful enough; the three
primary LIGHTs in that Deck are Wyverburster,
Construct, and Denko Sekka. You could use Honest to
protect Denko Sekka, but this will be situational at
best.
Lower tier Decks like Satellarknight, Bujin, and
Lightsworn can certainly make good use of a second
Honest though. Pretty much any Deck with a heavy
LIGHT focus can.
