Reborn Tengu
This card was a bit broken when it came out at the
tail-end of the Synchro era.
Dealing with 3 1700-ATK beaters from one card
was a lot.
Think about it.
Remember in 2011 that a 2500-ATK Leviathan
was a huge threat.
Nowadays, even that card is nothing.
But a player could have been spending way
more resources than they needed to getting rid of
every Tengu.
Nowadays, Tengu is easily Castel'ed (Tengu can't
summon itself if sent to the deck) and the risk of
drawing 2 Tengu's opening hand is a considerable
problem seeing.
But a 1700-ATK floater just isn't scary
anymore.
All in all, Synchro decks are slowly getting their
broken cards back and maybe this one will help them
a bit, but I don't see myself using this once-splashable
card in any of my decks any time soon.

Reborn Tengu is back at 3...it took time, but it
happened. Remember how this card could just be
abused all to hell and break games open?
Almost always (as referenced yesterday) when a card
falls down the Ban List, it's usually because it's
not the powerful or impactful, either on it's own,
and/or in a Format. But Tengu is a special
type of card. It's obviously best used and
abused in multiples, and usually in threes.
Here's the thing, this was almost one of those moves
Konami was like, yea, let's see what you do with it,
or has everyone who knows how to do that not playing
the game anymore? It's got potential to break
the new Format open for sure. All it takes is
one Deck with one good place at an SJC...remember
that kids. Monster replenishment is great, and
this is one of the best.
Ratings:
4/5 Honestly, sure that's probably a bit high, I'll
admit, but it's still very good, so mathematically
if you wanna break that down, it's 3 + X / 5 where X
= 0.5 for each copy you're allowed to use past the
original. And that's not even factoring in
potential to break a Format open...4.25/5

I remember a time when Reborn Tengu was ran in
just about every Deck. This card was so powerful and
centralizing upon its release that it was a major
contributor in Plant Synchro shooting up to the very
top of the format again.
Reborn Tengu was (and technically still is) pretty
much free advantage; unless it was going back to the
Deck you were getting another one when he left. This
was especially powerful during the time of its
release, when the game was dominated by Synchro
Monsters. Coupled with 2-3 copies of Pot of Avarice
(because that was once a thing), you would likely
see Reborn Tengu come out over and over during the
course of one game.
These days, though, Reborn Tengu doesn’t really
shine. All of the Decks that make great use of it
are too slow to keep up with today’s meta. He’s a
relic of a forgotten age, really.
I also remember a time when people said this card
and Malicious could never come back to 3. Oh my, how
times have changed.
