U.A. Mighty Slugger
- #DUEA-EN087 You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by returning 1 "U.A." monster you control to the hand, except "U.A. Mighty Slugger". You can only Special Summon "U.A. Mighty Slugger" once per turn this way. If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step.

TGIF! Closing out the week is U.A. Mighty
Slugger. What sport could this guy be
associated with? He's a Level 5, with 2300
attack, which is about as low as I'd like a Level 5,
although the 700 defense kind of really hurts him.
His effect is really to your advantage though.
If Slugger attacks, your opponent can't use cards or
effects until the Damage Step. I'd enjoy much
more if this worked to all your U.A. Monsters, but
the effect will still benefit you a great deal.
He's, as reference, one of the stronger U.A.
Monsters in the arsenal, and he does do the Deck a
good service.

Hello Pojo Fans,
(Looks like Dark Paladin and I are the co-captains
of the U.A. Team this week. Paladin, which U.A. is
your favorite?).
Because Mighty Slugger doesn't have an effect based
off of a way you summon him, you can summon him any
way possible (including the standard “U.A.” way) and
still benefit. Stopping effects until after the
damage step makes Mighty Slugger the true “heavy
hitter” of the archetype.
Stadium gives him 500 more ATK, Playmaker can add
800 more ATK, Powered Jersey gives 1000 more ATK
(we're up to 2300 additional ATK, making Slugger
4600), and with Jersey it can attack twice if it
destroys a monster, and the damage the opponent
takes is doubled. Add all that into the fact that
your opponent won't be activating any card effects
until the end of the damage step, and Mighty Slugger
will be doing some serious damage. Flip effects
won't be going off, attack-stopping s/t cards won't
be able to save your opponent either, and if after
you do your damage with Slugger they try and
destroy/target it, save it with Turnover Tactics or
Midfielder.
Outside the archetype, Slugger is a one-tribute
monster with decent ATK that prevents card effects
from activating until after the damage step. That
alone is pretty good, but he does so much better
when combined with other cards to maximize his
potential.
