Baneful

It's base effect is like a Night Beam, except the opponent can chain to it.  No secret that it's not as versatile as cards like Mystical Space Typhoon, but it's graveyard effect can potentially give you a +1, if you destroy both a non-chainable set spell/trap and a face-up spell/trap that is critical for the opponent's deck.  If the opponent doesn't use field/equip/continuous cards, then this card is barely passable at best.  In a backrow-heavy format, it would be well worth it because, worst-case-scenario you get a weak 1-for-1 and you just side it out in games 2 and/or 3.

In our current format, none of the major decks can be hurt by this card, but if we ever get a slower format like in the PRIO era, this card will be in favor again.  Overall, it's solid side deck option against certain matchups and might even be main-able in certain formats.  Even though it's not super relevant today, I still think it's good and timeless.

Galaxy Cyclone...and what do our elemental/weather cards do to the Field...they destroy things.  Cosmically speaking, on a BIG scale, like Dark Hole or Raigeki.  So in short, it's a non Quickplay Mystical Space Typhoon, that can only hit a face-down Magic/Trap card...you can use it to destroy a set Magic/Trap from the Graveyard, save the turn it goes to the Graveyard...but assuming for some reason you're playing multiples of this (when you shouldn't play one at all) you can only use that effect once a turn.  MST is unlimited last I checked, so I'm not sure why you'd play a weaker/restricted version of it, cause that second effect isn't enough to get me to use it.  As Creator of the Points System use to say...there are better cards that do a better job.  We don't even need to go past MST

T-REX

This is an extremely good removal card as not only can it be used once on any Spell or Trap card on the field, including your own, but it can also be used once again on any face-up Spell or Trap card on the field, including your own.

This means that Galaxy Cyclone can become a +1 for you and will be very useful against almost every “Floodgate” Field or Continuous Spell or Trap or Pendulum card in the game. I say almost because Imperial Iron Wall completely stops this card from being removed from the Graveyard for its second use.

If this card has a weakness, it would be the fact that this card is only a Normal Spell card, and not a Quickplay like Mystical Space Typhoon, this fact means that it cannot be Chained in response to Vanity’s Emptiness or Fiendish Chain, this means that even though Galaxy Cyclone is unmistakeably good, it does have a weakness and this weakness means that it cannot automatically be considered to be better than Mystical Space Typhoon, the card that any and all single removal Spell cards are ultimately compared to.

Decks that mill cards such as Lightsworn will find this very useful as cards such as Light-Imprisoning Mirror and Dimensional Fissure tend to absolutely ruin them, this now provides them with an ability to remove those cards without necessarily having to rely on cards such as Royal Decree, especially since even 3 copies of it can be milled and lost, Galaxy Cyclone can serve the task of removing difficult to deal with cards without ever needing to be drawn.

Rating: 4. Not a replacement for Mystical Space Typhoon, and never will be but certainly is an extremely useful removal card, most especially since it can be used twice, and this is what makes it most valuable and worthy of consideration.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Galaxy Cyclone has the touches of Night Beam and Breakthrough Skill to it, as you will likely get two uses from it: once when you play it, then once when it is in the graveyard. While only being able to target a face-up spell/trap when banishing this card from your grave is a little restrictive, it's handy to have an option out of the graveyard. Not being able to use both effects on the same turn balance the card out, though if you mill this card then you can't remove it until next turn.

While it may be more preferable to destroy a face-up in certain situations, nine times out of ten you will be going after a set s/t, so being restricted to only targeting a set s/t isn't much of a restriction. Pendulum Monsters are the natural target of Galaxy Cyclone when banishing it from the graveyard, however there are some decks that use face-up s/t.

This card can easily fit into a main deck, but is an even better side deck card. Have it ready for Qli decks, or decks that run a lot of face-up s/t. It's slower than MST, can't replace MST and shouldn't, but if you need some s/t destruction options this is the card for you because of its possibility of being a 2-for-1.

liepard

Hello guys! Call me shadow_liepard. This is gonna be my first CotD, so here goes! Today's card is Galaxy Cyclone, a very promising new spell from Crossed Souls. This card works like a Breakthrough Skill version of MST, in that it destroys a spell card on the field, then can be banished to destroy a spell from the graveyard. I personally had been waiting for this card for ages to use in my Infernoid deck, but how good is it actually?

Well, first of all, it is obviously good in milling decks like Infernoids and Lightsworns. A big problem in these decks is milling their MSTs, and they don't have many options against floodgates. Galaxy Cyclone is as good as Breakthrough Skill in these decks.

For other decks though, perhaps not so much. This card doesn't really offer much of an advantage over MST in these decks. First of all, this is not a quick-play spell, and its graveyard effect isn't quick either. Therefore, there is no way to chain it during your opponent's turn, and when sent to the graveyard, you have to wait a turn before you can activate it, giving the opponent plenty of time to banish it with a Mokuton or even a Soul Release. Secondly, both its effects target two different types of spells, so if your opponent only has face-ups, you're not going to be able to dump it. Most decks should be able to get by with their three MSTs and perhaps some sided Twisters, so this card will not be necessary.

A good thing to make note of is that both its effects read "destroy it" as opposed to "destroy that target", which means if a set continuous S/T is flipped face-up in response to this card, it will still be destroyed. Also, it can destroy either player's S/Ts, so it could be used in Artifacts, or if you don't like your own floodgates.
