Mask Change II
- #SDHS-EN019

Discard 1 card, then target 1 face-up monster you control that has a Level; send it to the Graveyard, also, after that, if it left the field by this effect, Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 "Masked HERO" monster with the same Attribute, but a higher Level than, the Attribute/Level the monster had when it was on the field (its original Attribute/Level, if face-down. This Special Summon is treated as a Special Summon with "Mask Change"). You can only activate 1 "Mask Change II" per turn.

Mask Change II...the biggest and most notable difference between un and deux here, is that the latter is a -2, while the original is just a -1.  Both are Quickplay Magic cards, and both require a Monster to be given up from your side of the Field.  However, the latter only requires a Monster, while the original requires a HERO.  They both make you Special Summon a HERO of the same attribute of the Monster you gave up, which is balanced, as stated yesterday.  Although here, the Level of the HERO has to be higher than that of the Monster you're giving up for this card.  Which is simple, as that's likely going to be low.  Probably 1-4 about 99% of the time.  Back to the start here, not that the discard is game crippling, but it COULD keep you from activating it when you need to.  I'm going to side with the original being just better, but this is a good option as well.

Hello Pojo Fans,

The squeal may be better than the original. Mask Change II does a few things Mask Change doesn't do, both good and bad for the “HERO” deck.

Also a Quick-Play Spell Card, Mask Change II can target any monster on your side of the field in contrast to it having to be a “HERO” monster. You still get a “Masked HERO” from your Extra Deck, but you have to discard a card with Mask Change II, unlike Mask Change. This can be a good thing, as it can fill your grave with DARK monsters for Dark Armed Dragon, or combo with the new Elemental HERO Shadow Mist and other monsters that benefit when hitting the graveyard. The monster has to have a level, so Xyz monsters are out of luck with Mask Change II. The “Masked HERO” summoned has to match the attribute of the monster sent from the field to the graveyard, which isn't hard with the abundance of choices for HERO players now.

Mask Change II can set up big moves depending on what variation of “HERO” deck you run. Destiny HERO-heavy builds have more ways to summon Dark Law and fill their graveyard with DARK monsters for DAD. More balanced variations have even more resources to summon their different attribute “Masked HERO” monsters. Special Summon Bubbleman, top into a card and Mask Change II, and you have a Masked HERO Acid hitting your side of the field and wiping out your opponents spell/traps.

Mask Change II make “Masked HERO” builds more consistent by giving it another up to 3 copies of a way to summon their best monsters. Its strongest plus against its predecessor is that it doesn't need a HERO to be trageted.
