This card is really strong and a big step up from
Malacoda. Between being protected from
targeting, a discard effect upon its destruction and
a Dark World Dealings type effect for Burning Abyss
which will plus the longer this card is on the
field, it can do a lot for the deck. And
unlike the Malacoda, you can keep Pilgrim in the
Extra Deck to avoid draw probability issues.
However, this card still requires you to run
Polymerization or a card like it - and that's its
only downside. You can trigger the Burning
Abyss effects like Cir, Grapha and Scarm by using
them in the Fusion Summon but having 3 freely
available Burning Abyss monsters and a fusion spell
card to begin with sounds like a win-more situation.
All in all though, I'm giving this card the benefit
of the doubt, especially since it's for a tier 1
deck.

Dante, Pilgrim of the Burning Abyss closes the
week. Level 9, Fusion, Light (as opposed to
Fire) and MUST be Fusion Summoned with THREE Burning
Abyss Monsters with different names. 2800 attack
and 2500 defense are solid, a tad low for Level 9,
but still good. First for good, it has some
protection, it can't be targeted by your opponent's
card effects, which is great. Once a turn,
during either players' turn, you can send a Burning
Abyss Monster to the Graveyard, (from your Hand), to
Draw one card. If this card destroyed by
Battle and sent to the Graveyard, or if under your
control and sent to the Graveyard by your opponent's
card effect, select one card at random from your
opponent's Hand and send it to the Graveyard.
I like it...it's strong, it's disruptive, though the
hardest part is going to be the Summoning, and I
don't feel you NEED this in Burning Abyss.
Good card though
