Shifting to XYZ we come to Madolche Puddingcess
Chocolat-a-la-Mode. Her name is literally a
mouthful. So we have a Rank 5, Earth
attributed, Fairy, XYZ Summoned with two Level 5
Earth Monsters, with 2500 attack and 2200 defense.
2500 attack isn't at all bad, but she is low for a
Rank 5. First, you can XYZ Summon this card
using a Rank 4 or lower Madoloche as an XYZ
Material, and any XYZ Material that card has becomes
Material for this card, which is good. Once a
turn you can target a Madloche card in your
Graveyard and shuffle it back into the Deck.
If this card has Madloche Princess as XYZ Material
(as it could/should, as this card doesn't really
belong outside of the Madloche Deck) when a Madloche
card is shuffled into the Main Deck (save the Damage
Step) you can detach an XYZ Material from this card
to Special Summon a Madloche Monster from your Deck
in attack position or face-down defense position.
She's great for the Deck. Recycles, can
Special Summon, and the attack while low, as
mentioned, is still 2500.

"Mean and Evil" |
It was about a year ago, during the very first
round of the European champonships for Yu-Gi-Oh!,
and thing weren't going well already: I was up
against a French "Dragon Ruler" player that just
seemed to be drawing better than I was, and only
minutes after we started game three, time was
called. Again I was looking at a hand filled with "Madolche"
monsters, despite my calculated odds of such a hand
happening over and over again. As I wondered why in
a time as crucial as this the Random Number God had
forsaken me - surely I had seen bad hands before,
but in tournament I was until now always given what
I needed to win - I drew the one card that could
rekindle my hope, Madolchepalooza. I set the trap
that I entrusted my tournament career to, as well as
a Madolche Messengelato, to spare my life points
from the onslaught of my opponent's powerful
beaters.
My despair did not escape my opponent's attention,
and he decided to symbolically seal the game by
ending his turn with a field of Divine Dragon Knight
Felgrand, and Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree. I
didn't take enough damage to lose then and there,
but as I entered the last turn of this match, I knew
there was no way I could respond to this field in
time: my opponent had all his life points, and the
highest ATK I could reach was the 2700 ATK of
Madolche Queen Tiaramisu boosted by Madolche
Chateau. All my opponent had to do was make his
Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand unaffected by card
effects for the turn, and he would win the game as
his life points were higher as I ended.
It would seem however, that my opponent was not as
familiar with my deck, and although I knew I should
lose this game, my opponent was still waiting for a
possible counterattack. I had no choice but to go
for the biggest possible bluff: with a serious look
in my eyes, I normal summoned Madolche Mewfeuille,
and attempted to activate its effect. This was not a
move my opponent was happy to see, as he had been
one-shot before by the combo started by the pink
kitten: he activated the effect of Divine Dragon
Knight Felgrand, and targeted not the knight itself,
not Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree, but Madolche
Mewfeuille.
With the effect of Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand
used on a monster of my own, all I had to do was
empty my opponent's field with Madolche Queen
Tiaramisu, and attack for enough damage to bring my
opponent's life points to a number lower than my
own. I activated Madolchepalooza, threw as many
cards as I could on the table, and the como that
ensued was enough to bring my opponent's life points
down all the way to 0 - a stunning victory, in a
game I had no business winning, and this was only
the beginning: what more epicness would this day
bring me?
Or a better question: how is this story relevant
again to today's card, Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode?
Well, let us forget about Leo, Keeper of the Sacred
Tree for a moment, and imagine a field of Divine
Dragon Knight Felgrand. Previously, a "Madolche"
deck, even with access to their entire deck, was
unable to out the knight in a single turn, like I
had to in this case - 2800 ATK was not something the
deck could go over if all else failed.
But times have changed, and Crossed Sould has
brought us Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode!
Her 2500 ATK puts her a tier above the 2200 ATK
Madolche Queen Tiaramisu, and allows the deck to
overcome obstacles it previously couldn't - and this
is only considering her beautiful ATK stat! Just
wait until I get to her effect!
That's what I want to say, but those that have read Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode's effect will realize
that she will in practice never be more than a "Madolche"
beatstick, as fulfilling her strict conditions is
impractical to say the least. First of all, Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode can be XYZ summoned
by using Madolche Queen Tiaramisu as the XYZ
material for a cute 300 boost in possible damage
dealt, and secondly she allows us to return a "Madolche"
card from the graveyard to the deck, so about that
thing that Madolche Queen Tiaramisu does better.
And that's it! Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode
has a third effect, but its restrictions make it so
that it will never be used outside a for-fun
environment, as Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode
needs to have Madolche Puddingcess attached to her
as an XYZ material to activate it. Yes, special
summoning a Madolche monster from the deck, possibly
multiple times per turn even, is nothing to scoff
at, but it does not justify having to summon Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode the traditional way
(using two level 5 monsters), in a deck that has to
go out of its way to do so. Explain to me again why
I wouldn't just bring out Number 61: Volcasaurus?
And so, if you ask me, the only way Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode is worth using is
when she is placed on top of Madolche Queen
Tiaramisu, and the only way to have Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode do anything other
than inflict 300 more damage in battle when summoned
this way, we'll have to use Madolche Puddingcess as
an XYZ material not for Madolche Puddingcess
Chocolat-a-la-Mode, but for Madolche Queen Tiaramisu
in the first place. For now Mischief of the Gnomes
seems like the least resource-unfriendly way to do
this, but it's still far from reliable, or worth
playing if I may be so blunt. I'm sorry, but I don't
think there's a way to unlock Madolche Puddingcess
Chocolat-a-la-Mode's full potential using the
currently available card pool.
So is Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode all
bad? I guess I'll play a copy for when the extra
damage comes in handy then... Well, there's still
some hope left: careful analysis of Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode's card text, reveals
that she may be considered an oddity in a way... Why
doesn't Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode read
"You can also XYZ summon this card by using a "Madolche
Queen Tiaramisu" you control as the XYZ material"?
Why does she mention a "rank 4 or lower "Madolche"
XYZ monster" specifically? Is this so that we can
XYZ summon Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode
using a copy of herself if she were somehow to lose
a rank due to a card effect, or could this mean that
another rank 4 or lower "Madolche" XYZ monster may
be on its way? Who knows...
Traditional: if I were to write that Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode is broken in this
format, would people believe me? No one plays it to
prove me wrong after all... "Madolche" are not worth
running here I'm afraid, as their power play (Madolche
Queen Tiaramisu) is reactively inclined, and the
boards one creates in the Traditional format do not
allow a response. 1/5
Advanced: I honestly don't know how to this card is
anything else but a sign that our beloved Konami
stopped caring for "Madolche" after all. Madolche
Hootcake and Madolche Anjelly were to good to be
true, making the disappointment that is Madolche
Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode all the greater.
Still the deck can run a copy in the extra deck if
it finds the space, so I can't give this card the
lowest possible score unfortunately... 2/5
