Daily Since 2002!

Speedroid Taketomborg
- #HSRD-EN006

If you control a WIND monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Speedroid" Tuner monster from your Deck, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except WIND monsters. You can only Special Summon "Speedroid Taketomborg(s)" once per turn.

Speedroid Taketomborg

It's a fast card.  It can Special Summon itself with ease.  And it helps you get a Synchro out of it.  It's revenue-nuetral and doesn't do anything to plus.  It's sort of like a Junk Synchron for WIND decks, except the card comes out of the deck and it doesn't take up your Normal Summon.  There's not a lot of quality WIND or Speedroid options out there to make great use of this card, but it's a decent card design.

Closing the week is Speedroid Taketomborg.  Wind, Machine, Level 3, 600 attack and 1200 defense.  So with rather unremarkable stats, we're happy for a good effect here.  What do we get?  You can Special Summon this card if you control another Wind Monster.  Always a good thing to see a decent Special Summon ability.  You can Tribute this card to Special Summon a Speedroid Tuner from your Deck, which is great, although raises the question why this card couldn't just be a Tuner in the first place.  You're prevented from Special Summoning Monsters that aren't Wind for the rest of the turn, and you can only Special Summon this card once a turn.  He adds some speed to an all ready quick Deck, and the ability to fetch any of your Tuners you want is awesome too.  But still leaves me wondering why he isn't a Tuner himself...

Hello Pojo Fans,

Taketomborg is a handy monster that, though working with WIND Attribute monsters, belongs only in “Speedroid” decks. Able to be Special Summoned when a WIND is on your field gives it a flexibility to be put in other decks, but with low stats and not being a Tuner quickly dismisses these options unless you run the “Speedroid” Tuner monsters this card is able to target.

One-for-one trade with a “Speedroid” Tuner, both stetting up Synchro plays. Tri-Eyed Dice stands alone as a level 3 Tuner, while Red-Eyed Dice works alongside another “Speedroid” to change that Speedroid's level (from 1-6), working with the level 1 Red-Eyed Dice for a Synchro (and in rare occurrences, Xyz) Summon. Taketomborg isn't able to be used in combination with Machine Duplication, and with most WIND-based archetypes already having their own ways to Synchro and Xyz, that leaves Taketomborg with only the Speedroids.

Speedroid Taketomborg, what a mouthful. So this thing is a Level 3 Wind Machine-type Monster with 600 Atk and 1200 Def. So Speedroids like to Synchro Summon, so Level 3 is ok to that end. Machines have support, but I don't think it will be relevant. Wind simply fits the theme. 600 Atk and 1200 Def are paltry. Let's see if the effects make up for this lackluster monster.

The good effect is that this Special Summons itself if there is a Wind monster on your side of the field. That's a fast and good effect which would be better if this was the all powerful Level 4. The next effect is to Tribute itself to Special Summon a Speedroid tuner from the Deck. Again, there are only 2 Speedroid tuners, so this effect is very limited. Finally, there are so many restrictions on this card, that it makes it not worth playing. You can only Special Summon this thing once per turn. If you use the second effect you have to only Special Summon Wind monsters for the rest of the turn. Genex Ally Birdman for life!

Score: 2/5 2 points for the 2 monsters this can Special Summon for the deck.
