It's name is Bane, just like me. That's good
to know. It's a level higher, but doesn't
really require more resources. Just a LV2
Tuner with Red Dragon Archfiend instead of a LV1.
Being able to Special Summon 2 Tuners is a better
payoff than we previously talked about with HRDA
Abyss. But the first effect isn't as good as
Abyss' negation effect. Summoning a 3000 ATK
beater is nice but having another tribute on hand is
very unlikely after already using up 3 monsters to
summon this card.

Hot Red Dragon Archfiend
Bane...
Well the art is still pretty
kickass. It's got that going for it.
But that's about it...
So same core attribute and type
as yesterday, as well as a more specific and
difficult Synchro Summoning requirement (involving a
specific type and attribute of Synchro Monster) with
3500 attack and 3000 defense. Let's look at
the second effect first, as I feel this is the
better one. When this card inflicts
Battle Damage to your opponent (as reference earlier
this week, why can't it be when it destroys a
Monster instead) you get to Special Summon two Tuner
Monsters. But they have to be the same Level,
and one comes from your Deck, the other comes from
your Graveyard. Both in Defense position.
You've probably used two Tuners all ready, and the
odds of you having two more in your Deck, even in an
extremely dedicated Deck, I don't see as very good.
I mean, even in a Synchro crazy Deck, that might not
be easy to takek advantage of. Anyway, you
can also Tribute a Monster you control to Special
Summon a Red Dragon Archfiend Monster from your
Graveyard back to the Field. This is a good
enough effect, but none of these guys work very well
together, and some effect wise actually hinder the
effectiveness of the others. This guy is the
best and simultaneously the worst of the cards we've
reviewed this week somehow. Honestly, I say
stick with the original if you're playing any at
all.

Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Bane, or HRDAB for
short, is another stronger form of Red Dragon
Archfiend. If you can summon it, you will have
access to a “Red Dragon Archfiend monster” as long
as you can tribute a monster. Special Summoning
capabilities from the deck and grave when dealing
battle damage is good, and the monsters being Tuner
monsters sets up more Synchro plays. Relatively easy
to summon, there are plenty of DARK Dragon-Type
Synchro monsters in the game, as well as Tuner
monsters to use and abuse. Tuningware alongside
Machine Duplication and any Level 6 monster will
give you a Level 8 DARK Dragon Synchro monster (with
few exceptions) then Synchro again for HRDAB.
Special Summoning of a “Red Dragon Archfiend”
monster from your grave gives you more insensitive
to Special Summon a Red Dragon Archfiend to use in
the Synchro Summon of this monster. Two 3000ATK
monsters every turn is tough offense to go up
against. Deal some damage with this monster and you
increase your field presence. Use the tuners as
tribute to Special Summon a “Red Dragon Archfiend
monster”, then Synchro Summon another HRDAB, repeat
over and over.
What the other forms of Red Dragon Archfiend had in
strength and field destruction, Hot Red Dragon
Archfiend Bane has in Synchro capabilities. Still,
wiping out your opponent can be better than setting
up a field.

We are continuing with Red week and it just so
happens to coincide with my wife's birthday! And
it's NYCC 2015 today. I love October.
Anyway, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Bane is the biggest
of the new RDA support so far. Hot RDA Bane is a
Level 10 Dark Dragon-type Synchro monster with 3500
Atk and 3000 Def. Obviously, in this game bigger is
better.
Something I want to touch on quickly is that this a
level 10 monster that can easily summon another copy
of itself from the Graveyard to XYZ summon something
huge, probably Gustav Max to end the game. The first
effect is a once per turn Special Summon of an RDA
monster from your Graveyard at the cost of tributing
1 monster on your side of the field. Or during the
Battle Phase, after you inflict Battle Damage to
your opponent, you can Special Summon 1 tuner from
your deck, and 1 from the Graveyard of the same
level in Def position. I suppose that second effect
can be activated during your opponent's turn if they
attack into it but aren't stronger than it.
Score: 4/5 Gaining access to old RDA effects from
the grave is great.
Art: 5/5 I love the art and the names of RDA
monsters.

“I was wondering which would break first... your
spirit, or your body.” -Bane, “The Dark Knight
Rises”
Okay, this time they most definitely want you to
Synch this guy with his Abyss form! It practically
says it right there on the card: Synch this with a
Tuner, and Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss!” WHY ARE
THESE NAMES SO LONG!?
But seriously though, this is the undisputed king of
the hot-red dragons; not only is he at a staggering
3500-ATK and 3000-DEF, but he can also call up his
buddies from the Grave (given the requirements are
met). If you want to play with the hot-red dragons,
then there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't
play this card. It's just begging for it. And then
when he and his buddies have swarmed the field and
left your opponent's monsters in ashes.... then your
opponent will have your permission to die. I mean
lose.
Final Score: 5/5 (Hot-Red Theme only; works best
with his brothers but hardly anyone else) |
