Artifact Lancea
- #DUEA-EN034 You can Set this card from your hand to your Spell & Trap Zone as a Spell Card. During your opponent's turn, if this Set card in the Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed and sent to your Graveyard: Special Summon it. During your opponent's turn: You can Tribute this card from your hand or face-up from your side of the field; neither player can banish cards for the rest of this turn (this is a Quick Effect).

This card from last year was probably suggested
for a COTD because it's a tech idea against Kozmos.
I simply feel like Imperial Iron Wall is a better
alternative because it's longer lasting and can
cripple the opponent out for the entire game rather
than a turn.

Artifact Lancea closes the week...Lancea,
although this clearly an Axe, not a Lance, but I
digress. Has a neat enough trick to be Special
Summoned when destroyed, albeit from the Magic/Trap
zone, and it can be Set there, so that's good.
The attack and defense both are kinda meh at
1700-2300 respectively. You can tribute it
from your Hand or face-up from your Field to keep
both players from removing Monsters from play until
the next turn. Useful against certain Decks,
useless against just as many. It's a quick
effect though, so that's a plus. Earth fits
the Archtype well, and Fairy is good too. But
still, this particular Artifact just isn't very
good.

I think it is fitting that we
review an Angel-type card today. As a New Yorker,
it's difficult to talk about today and what today
means.
But, 14 years later, I can review cards and
hopefully you enjoy that.
Artifact Lancea is a Level 5
Light Fairy-Type monster with 1700 Atk and 2300 Def.
It's never really ok to have a single tribute
monster with less than 2000 Atk, but at least the
Def is good. I doubt anyone would tribute for this,
but it is an option.
The effects are typical for an
Artifact monster. You can set this monster as a
Spell and if it's destroyed and sent to the
Graveyard during your opponent's turn, you can
Special Summon it. However, this card is going to be
sided or main decked because of its utility as a
Hand Trap. While it's face up on the field or in
your hand, during your opponent's turn, you can
tribute Lancea to stop all banishing for the rest of
their turn. I'm glad it doesn't specify a phase the
way Effect Veiler does. Lot's of decks need to
banish to get their combos and win conditions going.
The reason you would run this instead of Imperial
Iron Wall is the surprise factor, to avoid Denko
Sekka, and to avoid Mystical Space Typhoon. Or you
could run both, probably 2 of each, and really stop
a ton of effects.
Score: 3/5 It's a good side
deck option for many decks.
Art: 5/5 I love the artwork on
all the Artifact cards. I am also biased toward
Light and Angels.
Good Luck!

One
more day till new “My Little Pony” episodes!!!
….....I mean, hi.
It
seems like we're going backwards with this final
card of the day. Does anybody out there even play
Artiface decks? And if so, do they use this one? I
mean, he looks cool and all, but the only thing
really going for him is the 2300 DEF points. He's
easy to get on the field with his effect, but unless
you're gearing him up to be XYZ'd, then perhaps he
can make for a good shield for your LPs?
Meh, I
just don't see that much going for this artifact.
….Still looks cool though. I guess.
Final Score: 1/5 (Now bring on the ponies!!)
