Aromage Rosemary
- #CROS-EN036 While your LP is higher than your opponent's, if a Plant-Type monster you control attacks, your opponent cannot activate monster effects until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn, if you gain LP: Target 1 face-up monster on the field; change its battle position.

The card advantage on this card is what you make
of it. 1800 ATK is solid for LV4 and you can neg
the opponent in some situations with the Dark Ruler
Ha Des like effect. The battle position
changing effect is versatile because you can use it
(by activating LP gain cards) during your turn to
win in battle, or during the opponent's turn to
prevent an attack. It won't see much
competitive play, but it's good for its deck.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Aromage Rosemary offers Plant-Type monsters a form
of protection that, while not complete, does offer
some help. Keep your LP higher than your opponent
and your opponent won't be activating monster
effects until after the Damage Step, that's great.
No flip-effects, no hand traps, no graveyard removal
until after the damage step, and no “when this card
is sent to the graveyard” effects. Almost every deck
runs a monster(s) that has an effect that can be
negated by Rosemary, some decks revolving around the
graveyard in this way like Shaddolls. While an
Ancient Gear Golem effect would've offered more
protection, this does hit a wide range of monsters
and decktypes.
If you do run some LP-gaining cards, Rosemary offers
an Enemy Controller-like effect, but only once per
turn. This is handy, but not needed as much as the
first effect. LP-gaining cards can be replaced with
field-clearing cards like Raigeki to give you a
better chance of distancing yourself from your
opponent in LP.
Rosemary is worth running in a Plant Deck. Good ATK,
and a first effect that can come in handy if you can
keep your LP higher than your opponent, and that is
usually the goal of most decks.

Aromage Rosemary is a great component of another
new archetype. She comes in as a Level 4 Water
Plant-type monster with 1800 Atk and 700 Def. These
are fairly good stats for a Level 4 monster. The
fact that she's plant works with her effect. I don't
think Water matters, but it could be useful. There
is certainly Water support. When a Plant-type
monster attacks while your Life Points ARE ("LP is"
sounds wrong in my head) higher than your
opponent's, they can't activate monster effects
until the end of the Damage Step of that Plant
monster's attack. This can trigger for multiple
battles and is very annoying for many decks. Then,
only once per turn if you gain Life Points, you
change one face-up monster's battle position. I'm
sure this archetype has some automatic ways to gain
Life Points, but this monster could end up putting
itself in Def by accident.

Aromage Rosemary
This is
a new theme I've been interested in. Unfortunately,
like the Kaiju, it lacks enough support cards. But
at least we have more than two flower girls, which
is more than what I can say about FireZilla and
SpiderSaurus.
Unfortunately for Rosemary, I find her effects a tad
bit lackluster. Being able to negate monster effects
until the end of the Damage Step is good, as it puts
a damper in most search monsters, but the second
effect- change a monster's battle position- requires
you to gain LP. 1800 ATK can beat most monsters'
DEF, but unless you have a card like Solemn Wishes
or one of the Aroma supports on hand, you're not
likely going to get this effect. On the plus side,
1800 is still beatstick material. It's a good card
to have on the first draw, I think.
Final Score: 2/5 (may get better as more Aromage
cards come along)
