Hello Pojo Fans,

Performapal Skullcrobat Joker just got hit by the new TCG banlist, and for good reason: it is key to the Performapal archetype, as well as other archetypes.

DARK, Spellcaster, with standard level 4 ATK, Skullcrobat already has a lot going for him as a monster. Adds either a "Performapal" monster, "Magician" Pendulum Monster, or "Odd-Eyes" monster from your deck. This card was a must at 3 in not only a Performapal deck, but Magician Pendulum and Odd-Eyes based decks. With a scale of 8, and no significant effect as a spell card, Skullcrobat is much better as a monster that searches out your scales or even other Performapals to search out your scales. Searchable with plenty of of support from Pendulum monsters, as well as the newly semi-restricted Allure of Darkness, it's no wonder Skullcrobat was restricted to 1 to slow down pendulums.

Rarity snobs can get a new Super Rare version of their 1 legal Performapal Skullcrobat Joker. Ok have fun with that. It is somewhat difficult to distinguish gender for this card, not that it matters to playability. For pronouns, let's go with she because of the long blonde hair. She is a Level 4 Dark Spellcaster-type Pendulum monster with 1800 Atk and 100 Def and Scales of 8. Those stats for any Level 4 are great. 1800 Atk is decently high. 100 Def is low, but that doesn't matter too much except in "Traditional" format where any card is possible. I miss Witch of the Black Forest. Anyway, Peformapals have a ton of support as do Spellcasters which many of the Performs are. Allure of Darkness at two makes her Dark attribute that much more appealing. Her effects are also mostly appealing.

As a Pendulum monster, Performapal Skullcrobat Joker gets two sections for card effects. Her Pendulum Zone effect just restricts your Pendulum Summons to Permapals, Magicians, and Odd-Eyes. No Dracos being the major issue in Dracopals. The Monster effect is why this card had to be limited. When she's Normal Summoned you can search any Performapal, Magician (Pendulum), or Odd-Eyes monster from your Deck to your hand except herself. It's not even limited to once per turn. If you run a deck that lets you do multiple Normal Summons, Joker could get multiple cards a turn. Performapals have enough search and draw power that limiting Joker to one doesn't even hurt the deck all that much. She's still great and a necessity to all Performapal variant decks.

Score: 4/5 Good stats and good effect.
Art: 4/5 I guess the hat might have a bat on it, but certainly not Crobat.

Performapal Skullcrobat Joker

The moment this came out, I said, “Well, that card’s getting restricted.” No one is surprised by Joker’s hit. I can’t think of a single other archetype besides performapals that have so much monster support. The Dark Illusion set coming out in Japan this month has 8 more cards on the horizon, and it’s probably not going to end for a long time.

Now while a whole host of decks that profited from Joker got hit by the new ban list, this card at 1 is still going to make a lot of appearances. The fact that it can search for Odd-Eyes or “Magician” pendulum monster is a bonus I don’t even understand to this day. This card has potential and a shelf life that is going to extend far longer than most of his counterparts for that reason alone, even at 1. And I haven’t even touched on his impressive scale number, excellent type and attribute, or legit 4-star attack.

This card was absurd at 3, and is a treasure at 1. And as long as ARC-V is still airing, Joker will only get better as new sets release. Don’t be surprised if this card is still so strong that he requires time on the bench (banned).
