Holding Legs

Definitely on my list of “cards that could be abused in the right circumstances.” While Holding Arms is barely note-worthy, there’s something sinister about this card and its dual effects. It’s a lot like Satellar Deneb in that while the effect in itself is good, if it were able to be summoned every turn consistently, it could break games wide open. And the secondary effect puts it over the top for me.

Now, unfortunately, in this world of pendulums that we live in, Holding Legs isn’t nearly as good as it could have been. I have a feeling that only returning set cards is more of a direct response to how broken cards like Trunade and Brionac have proven to be over the possibility of being able to easily take out an opponent. Still I stand by my initial observation. Give this monster an easy way to summon itself multiple times consistently, and it can be very good.

Holding Legs

It's mostly a mini version of Byser Shock. The card is a -1 but perhaps its handling of the opponent's Spells/Traps can set your up for some OTK's. The fact that this card can get it's effect when Special Summoned is a plus, but all in all, I'd rather use Denko Sekka for OTK enforcement because it has stronger ATK, the opponent can't chain to it and it locks the opponent down next turn. Holding Legs might have potential. I just don't see it right now.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Holding Legs packs a lot of punch for a small monster. One of Marik's cards against Mai Valentine, Holding Legs will Giant Trunade the fields s/t upon any summoning: awesome. Summoner Monk and Mystic Tomato help this little Fiend-Type hit the field in more ways, and though it has small ATK/DEF, clearing the field of s/t is too good to pass up.

Banish this monster to prevent a set s/t your opponent controls from activating until the end of your opponents next turn. You can use both effects in the same turn if Holding Legs hits the graveyard. Foolish Burial it to quick lock down a lone s/t, or summon it and clear the field and reset everything you have. This card can work well in almost any deck as a backrow and pendulum zone clearing card. There are decks that could add this card as a key resource to their strategy like Dark Simorgh Lockdown.

Our first monster of the week is...Holding Legs. Holding Legs is a Level 4 Dark Fiend-type monster with 800 Atk and 600 Def. These stats are low for Level 4, but Level 4 is still grade A. This could be an interesting Side Deck choice for some Dark decks that want to push for game, but not because of the stats.

The effects are pretty good. I like that there is one effect per leg. The first is to return all set Spells and Traps on the field to the Hand if Holding Legs is Summoned. A Giant Trunade on legs for Set back row cards. It's a good effect. The Graveyard effect isn't as good, but it can still help with big attacks. You can banish Holding Legs from the grave to target a set Spell or Trap card of your opponent and it can't be activated until the end of your opponent's next turn. Both effects are excellent answers to all the Mirror Forces running around. I also like that neither of these effects are once per turn. If you have multiple Holding Legs in the grave, you can banish all of them to stop all of their Spells and Traps (up to 3).

Score: 3.5/5 I wish the second effect was a Quick Effect.
Art: 3/5 A lot of Saw references this week.
