Hello Pojo Fans,
Angmarl the Fiendish
Monarch is a Monarch-class monster that has
potential to be played in other decks.
Standard Monarch ATK and
DEF, a one tribute monster, DARK and Fiend allow for
some good support behind it. Banish a Spell to
search out a copy of that spell from your deck is a
great effect, baring you have a copy in your deck,
as well as run 3 of the chosen Spell. While there
are several decks that run 3 of a certain Spell
card, they prefer searching it out via drawing and
deck thinning, rather than using a monster, as well
as a tribute for it. You're using 3 cards to get to
one and that doesn't compute much. It can be very
useful though. If you use a draw card you run 3 of
and draw into this guy, you can Tribute Summon him
to get another of that draw card and use it right
away. No restrictions on when you can activate the
newly added card is a plus.
Monarchs run pretty good
and sift through their deck without any added
tribute monsters or searching cards, but it could be
an idea to play test and see if it works.
Advanced-3/5- Even running
2 of a Spell you can use this guy.

Angmarl the Fiendish Monarch is a Level 6 Dark
Fiend-type monster with 2400 Atk and 1000 Def. The
stats are exact duplicates of all the other regular
monarchs except for Zaborg who is Level 5. Being a
Fiend doesn't give this one any specific advantages.
In general, the regular monarchs can find themselves
in any side deck just to be that tribute monster out
against Domain of the True Monarchs. But is this one
worth it?
Angmarl's effect is very good. After he is Tribute
Summoned, you can banish a Spell Card from your
grave to search another of that Spell Card to your
hand. In its own deck, getting Pantheism or
Stormforth for that second Tribute Summon is really
good. This effect can be splashed into any deck that
runs spells. It would probably be very beneficial to
banish Twin Twister to get another one to your hand.
Search Draw cards, Field Spells, Ritual Spells, or
Level Up! The balance here is that you can't search
for Spells that are Limited because there is only
the one in your deck. That should not deter you from
running a single tribute Angmarl that can search all
the triple spell cards in your deck.
Score: 3.5/5 He's as good as the Spell you search.

Angmarl the Fiendish
Monarch
This card should be in the back of everyone’s minds
for years to come. As of now, the monster is ok. I
could see it in Monarch decks, though in the end, he
might be just too slow. But I’m calling it right
now: this card will probably be banned someday. Or
at the very least, restricted or the subject of
controversy and discussion for a long time.
The reason I say this is that there is a very
consistent trend in this game, and in most games for
that matter: The simpler the effect, the better the
card. Angmarl is as simple as you get. And to date,
there is only one other card in the game that can
potentially search for any spell card in the deck.
The almighty and nearly impossible to summon Dark
Sage (although with a ton of new Dark Magician
support coming soon, we might just get some Dark
Sage sightings here and there.) That’s it. One card.
Not a big pool to draw from.
I’ve been playing this game a super long time, and
if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that
simplicity reigns. One day, and I would guess soon,
this card is going to be heavily abused. All it
takes is the right circumstances. Heck, even as
recently as the past few years, I could have seen
this card being absolutely abusable. When Super Poly
was king, when Shadolls or Nekroz were at full
strength, etc. What I’m saying is that spell cards
come and go on the ban list like a revolving door,
because they can be game changers. For example, if
you don’t know what Gospel of Revival is yet, go
check it out. Ridiculous spell card in the OCG. And
I have a strong feeling this monster will take
advantage of cards just like that over the years to
come.
