With the hit on Performage Trick Clown, this card becomes slightly viable.  Obviously, you wouldn't use it to stop a card that only inflicts effect damage, but rather, you use it as a 1 for 1 on a strong card which also has an effect of negating damage.  Wavering Eyes, the best card in the game, for example, can be negated by this card.  Junkuriboh has a limited range of usefulness, but it's helped by the fact that it's a super-chainable handtrap.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Another member to the Kuriboh family is featured in our CoTD. This time it is Junkuriboh.

Same stats as its founding member, but EARTH and Machine differ from the Fiend and DARK characteristics of the original Kuriboh. Junkuriboh's effect revolves around preventing damage inflicted to you via a card effect of your opponent rather than battle damage.

The ability to destroy the card that causes the damage, as well as negate it is good. The ability to use this effect on the field or from your hand on either players turn is even better. One for One and Where Arf Thou are some ways that can get this little guy to your hand and on the field, as well as Machine Duplication. But there are only a few effects in the mainstream of the TCG that are consistently played that will do effect damage: Gagaga Cowboy, Caius, and Magical Explosion are a few popular cards. With Magical Explosion FTK still a thing, Junkuriboh could be used as a side option against this style of deck, but not much else.

Junkuriboh is a small monster with small stats. It's a Level 1 Earth Machine-type monster with 300 Atk and 200 Def. The name is a nice portmanteau of junk and Kuriboh and allows it to be searched by cards that search Junk cards. The other stats are weeny and uneventful. The effect is too simple to be worth it.

Junkuriboh only has one effect that discards itself from the hand. Then you can negate an activation of an opponent's card or effect that inflicts damage to you and destroy that card. That's it. Performage Damage Juggler does that or reduces battle damage as well. Then it would have a free search from the grave. It's also not bad stat-wise on the field. Compared to other Hand Traps that aren't Damage Juggler, this one still fails by comparison.

Score: 2/5 Not strong enough.
Art: 3/5 Doesn't really look trashy enough.

Junkuriboh

I’m kind of just waiting for a set of cards to tie all the numerous Kuriboh alternates into a theme of its own. For now, it seems like these cards are just meant to be crowd pleasers. Unfortunately, this card is not pleasing. Powerful cards that happen to inflict effect damage are not plentiful, and they never have been, at least consistently. So a card that sits in your hand waiting for it to happen is just not good, especially when that’s all it does. And even if you do pull it off, great! Now what? It’s a one-for-one that is now in your graveyard and will serve no further purpose.

If you want to run a Kuriboh variant, use Kuribandit, or wait for Clear Kuriboh to release, which I personally can’t wait for. I think that’s gonna be a super fun card.
