Shiranui
Solitaire
Even another bad translated
name can’t sour this amazing monster. Shiranui Sage,
now Shiranui Solitaire for whatever reason, is an
instant MVP of zombies. By being able to tribute any
other zombie, including himself, he gains the player
access to Level 1, 2, or 3 tuners from the deck (Scapeghost,
Spectralsword/Plaguespreader, and Unizombie). And
his combos are out of this world right out of the
gate. Solitaire and Instant Fusion gets you a quick
Trishula. Sage into Unizombie and then dump
Spectralsword is a turn 2 Crystal Wing for no cost,
and the list goes on.
Sage is the perfect storm of
form and function. He can search the deck to special
summon a wealth of good monsters depending on any
situation, and then he has an excellent second
effect that harmonizes well. Used in combination
with Shiranui Spiritmaster or Swallow’s Slash nets
you big gains, especially if you’ve managed to get
important pieces like Mezuki and Goblin Zombie into
the graveyard already or you’ve already managed to
banish monsters like Spiritmaster or Spectralsword.
And the fact that he is a zombie is itself a huge
perk, because there are so many ways to special
summon him with ease.
Solitaire gets the highest
future rating I can give. Zombies have several
tuners that make Solitaire a must, the best of which
is Unizombie. But even if Unizombie were to get
restricted or banned, Solitaire would just become
more important, not less. I truly believe that
zombies are just a card or two away from being tier
1 in the current meta, and Solitaire is a big reason
why.

Shiranui Solitaire
Finally Zombies get a REALLY good card, and this one
is a real ripper!
Essentially, this card could be likened to Lonefire
Blossom... Except for the part where card designers
got a bit more sensible and ensured that they put a
"Once per turn" clause of each of this cards
effects! Finally it seems, lessons of bad card
designing from the past seems to be being learned!
The most likely target for the effect of Shiranui
Solitaire currently is going to be Uni-Zombie,
especially since that is able to further promote
your Graveyard fuelling as well as manipulating
monsters Levels.
This card is really going to help to take Zombies to
new levels, and for those of you planning on playing
any type of Zombie utilising Deck, this card is a
must. Actually, this is one of the cards that most
excited me about this set and makes me want to get
back into some of my Zombie Decks.
Rating: 4.25. Good card is REALLY good!!!

Shiranui Solitaire is a good monster. It has
balanced effects and functions independently in its
own deck and in decks that want a Shiranui engine.
It's weak for Level 4, but it's still worth running
as a good way to make Synchro plays.

Shiranui Solitaire...a Fire attributed Zombie
Monster. There's something you don't see
everyday. This card, much like yesterday,
isn't very strong. Having only 500 attack and
0 defense. So first off, you can Tribute this
card, to Special Summon a Zombie Tuner from your
Deck, so long as it has 0 defense. And we
don't need to tell you who you're taking with this
effect, as this is obvious. This card also
allows you to target (note target) one of your
Shiranui Monsters that's been removed from play and
Special Summon it, and you can Special Summon two of
said Monsters, if you have Shiranui Style Synthesis
on the Field. And you can use each effect once
per turn, and I appreciate, even as weak as the card
is, that you could use the effects more than once,
if you can keep it on the Field.
