D Cubed
- #DESO-EN007If this card is Normal Summoned: It is also treated as a "Destiny HERO" monster while face-up on the field. You can only use each of the following effects of "D Cubed" once per turn.
● You can discard up to 2 cards; Special Summon "D Cubed" from your hand, Deck, and/or Graveyard, equal to the number discarded, also for the rest of this turn, you cannot Normal or Special Summon other monsters, except "Destiny HERO" monsters.
● If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can send 1 "Destiny HERO" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

D Cubed
Summoning itself from the deck is nice and being
able to send cards from your deck to the graveyard
is nice (no Disk Comm legal tho), but you have to
discard cards in order to get these effects working.
And if you're going to discard that Malicious,
you're better off doing so for a card with more
utility like Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. Like
economists say, there's
no such thing as a free lunch. Moreover, this
card in and of itself doesn't even do anything.
It's just
a 0 Atk monster with
as much utility as a Scapegoat
token, and it's not
even a floater since it doesn't
provide card advantage.

D Cubed is supposedly a Destiny Hero, but only
when it is Normal Summoned and face up. Otherwise it
is just a Level 1 Dark Machine-type monster with 0
Atk and 0 Def. The stats are bad, including the name
since it's only useful when it's considered a
Destiny Hero. Then its effects have to be
considered. There are two that can only be used once
per turn.
The restriction on the first effect is too much. The
cost is up to 2 discards from the hand to Special
Summon other D Cubed from almost anywhere up to the
number of cards discarded. The D Cubed that were
Special Summoned are not treated as Destiny Heroes.
The cost is steep especially when you consider that
after using this effect you can only summon Destiny
Hero Monsters. You can set whatever monster you
want, but it's still problematic to have three weeny
monsters on the field after discarding so many
cards.
The second effect only triggers if D Cubed is
destroyed by anything. Its destruction allows you to
send a Destiny Hero from the deck to the grave. That
effect would have been much better if it were any
Hero monster. It can't even send itself to the grave
by this effect because it is not a Destiny Hero in
the deck. I'm sure some effects will activate when
sent to the grave by this effect, but not enough to
warrant running D Cubed.

Monday
Well, it's Destiny Hero week (until Thursday, when
an appropriate seasonal card gets a look) and Friday
starts our end of the year countdown. Today,
we open with D-Cubed. This is a big combo card
for a D-Hero player. 0 attack and defense (all
but irrelevant) although Dark and Machine are
helpful. So this card is treated as a Destiny
Hero on the Field, if Normal Summoned, mind you.
You can discard up to two cards, and Special Summon
a D-Cubed for each card, from your Hand, Deck,
and/or Graveyard. This can be very helpful in
summoning things like Dogma or Plasma. Also,
if destroyed by Battle or Effect, you can send a
Destiny Hero from your Deck to your Graveyard.
As said, not great to do much on his own, but does
help speed the Deck along, and combo you into other
Monsters and plays. He's not a focal card of
the Deck, but it doesn't hurt you to play this
either.
