Top 10 Cards of 2016 -
#6 -
Cyber Dragon Infinity
- #BOSH-EN0943 Level 6 LIGHT Machine-Type monsters
Once per turn, you can also Xyz Summon "Cyber Dragon Infinity" by using "Cyber Dragon Nova" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) This card gains 200 ATK for each Xyz Material attached to it. Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up Attack Position monster on the field; attach it to this card as a face-up Xyz Material. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

Cyber Dragon Infinity
At #6 is Cyber Dragon Infinity, a monster that was
in the same spot on my own list. I think what puts
this particular monster in the Top 10 isn’t
necessarily his own abilities, but the fact that he
made a splash in certain separate decks throughout
2016. At the beginning of the year, he could be
found in Cyber Dragon decks, Tellarknight decks, and
Kozmo decks, and then along came Metalfoes and ABC.
And with all these powerful decks, it’s impossible
not to see Cyber Dragon Infinity’s impact in each on
some level.
Machines have so much support and they continue to
get even more. So getting two level 5’s for Nova was
quite easy, especially considering Instant Fusion
could get you one in a pinch and Galaxy Soldier
turned into the pieces you need. This is really why
there’s so much separation between Infinity and
Toadally Awesome. They have practically the same
upside, but while you can make Toad with a moderate
amount of effort, you still need level 2 Aqua types
or level 4 water monsters, and those just don’t have
the kind of pool that machines have at their
disposal.
Not only that, but I think Infinity’s potential as a
restricted card is much greater than Toad’s. In the
current game, there are many opportunities to splash
Nova and Infinity into the Extra deck, but normally
Toad needs his own dedicated deck, making him
watered down (pun intended) at 1.

We close out the first half of the Top 10 of 2016
Countdown with #6: Cyber Dragon Infinity.
Position on my list: N/A
CyDra Infinity
just barely missed my list. I could have
probably put it in over either my #9 or #10, but I
passed over it in my initial cutting down of cards
and just never went back to it.
The first widespread use of Infinity was with
Tellarknight Ptolemaeus. After the latter got
banned, Infinity dropped off a bit but was still
popular in Kozmo thanks to the double Sliprider
play. Infinity once again saw a spike in use when it
was found that Metalfoes could tech a mini Qliphort
engine to easily make it with Scout and Monolith.
This strategy fell off after INOV gave Metalfoes
more direct support, but with Billy Brake piloting
the Deck to victory this past weekend using the
Qliphort engine, it’s likely we’ll see it rise in
popularity once more.
The funny thing is that Cyber Dragon Infinity on its
own isn’t all that threatening, and easy to get over
with some baiting. But Infinity isn’t usually on its
own. Whether it’s with Traptrix Rafflesia, a Kozmo
monster, or Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin, there’s
almost always something backing Infinity, which
turns it into a major nuisance that puts your
opponent on a clock as well.
As long as a Deck that can make Cyber Dragon Nova is
relevant, Cyber Dragon Infinity will also be
relevant.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holidays. Hope you
all get some time with those you care about, relax,
and have fun. Finishing out the first week of our
year-end CoTD list is Cyber Dragon Infinity.
A lot of hype followed this card into the TCG, and
for very good reason. If you could make Cyber Dragon
Nova with 2 Level 5 Machine-Type monsters, you could
summon this monster the same turn and have 3 Xyz
materials.
When Tellarknight Ptolemaeus was available in the
Advanced format it was even easier to go to Cyber
Dragon Infinity. Effect negation once per turn is
always appreciation. With an ability to absorb an
opponents monster as an Xyz material replenishes any
materials to detach to negate an effect. Low ATK due
to its great potential, as well as the ATK boost it
gains from every material attached (200ATK per).
Even with things around it limiting itself, Cyber
Dragon Infinity will remain a good card to have in
the Extra Deck if you have a strategy to play it at
some point. Cyber Dragon and an Instant Fusion into
Nova into Infinity, or a deck dedicated around
maxing out Infinity, CDI answered its hype.

Cyber Dragon Infinity can win games during all
phases of play. Negation on legs is great,
especially when that negation doesn't target. It
scored a 4.31/5 when it was reviewed, and Cyber
Dragon Infinity earns such high praise. It possibly
should have earned a higher spot than 6 on this
year's list. Even the Atk boost per material can be
enough to get over problematic monsters. There is
nothing wrong with this monster once it hits the
field. If we ever lose Galaxy Soldier, Cyber Dragon
Infinity's score will drop. Until then, the only
thing keeping this from a perfect score is the
difficulty to summon in many decks.

Cyber Dragon Infinity, a card
I'm also surprised isn't a little higher on the
list. Rank 6, Light, Machine, XYZ Summoned
with three Light, Level 6, Machine Monsters, and has
2100 attack and 1600 defense (sound familiar?)
You can also use Cyber Dragon Nova as XYZ Material
for this card remember. This card gains 200
attack for each XYZ Material it has, so it's
actually going to have 2500 attack when it hits the
Field (if not more). Oh, and for more power
yet, it can add an attack position Monster on the
Field to itself for more XYZ Material. Once a
turn, during either player's turn, when a card or
effect is activated, you can negate the activation,
and if you did, destroy said card, by detaching an
XYZ Material. This card is sexy, that's all
there is to it. It might take a bit of work to
bring out, but such a powerful card should take some
effort. It's not ridiculous though, and is
quite a force to be reckoned with.
Rating: 5/5
(Realistically because of the summoning like 4.5/5,
but it's Christmas, so 5/5)

Cyber Dragon Infinity
Easily one of the better first turn cards to create
for those Decks that can.
Any card that essentially "Eats" one of your
opponent's cards/ effects for essentially nothing is
always going to make an impact, and when you add
onto the a Number 101: Silent Honor Ark esque like
effect, you have a card that can dominate the field,
especially when there is anything to truly back it
up.
This year I've only really seen this in Kozmo's,
which died hard to Monarchs, those Decks that
played/ used Galaxy Soldier, including Cyber Dragon
Decks that really did benefit from this, yet almost
ironically, not as well as other Decks and Dinomists
whom can spit out Rank 5's rather easily, although
this really only ever tends to happen in my
experience if you open with a poor - insta scoop
hand!
For the immediate future of Cyber Dragon Infinity I
expect it to see diminishing use... At least until
something that can easily Summon Cyber Dragon Nova
pops up.
Rating: 3.75. While this was/ is always good, it
does somewhat limit at times... On occasion it can
be Summon at the most inopportune of times, often
when essentially "Forced" into having to Summon this
due to not having any better play(s). Also, because
it can only "Suck" up monsters in ATK, this effect
can be avoided, and when it is also considered that
Cyber Dragon Infinity really doesn't have all that
large of an ATK, it can often be ran over just
easily enough to not cause any real problems. Plus,
because often it can be "Baited" easily enough, and
because generally only just the 1 Cyber Dragon
Infinity in any given Duel is realistically going to
be expected and along with the real need to protect
this with backrow to be effective, CDI often will
only make a small dent into any game plans.
