Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer
- #BOSH-EN023Pendulum Effect Once, while this card is in your Pendulum Zone: You can target 1 card in a Pendulum Zone; destroy it.
Monster Effect "Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer" continues his journey to uncover the secrets of Dragon Alchemy, believing it is the key to dispelling his curse and restoring his memory. His power continues to grow... perhaps the same power used by the Dracofiends?

Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer is a Level 4
Normal Pendulum Monster with 1950 ATK, which is
incredibly solid (remember the days when 1900 ATK on
a vanilla was a big deal?). In many ways, he seems
like a major downgrade compared to Luster Pendulum,
and he sort of is. But considering how powerful
Luster Pendulum is (if the Adjusted List emergency
Limiting him is any indicator), that’s not much of a
surprise.
Fear not, however, since Master Pendulum still has a
lot of utility that warrants his use. With the
aforementioned Limit on Luster Pendulum, Master
Pendulum is another Dracoslayer monster to search
off of Draco Face-Off, a card which is now more
important than ever in Pendulum Decks. Being Scale 3
gives you low scale options that weren’t available
with Luster Pendulum. His ability to destroy any
Scale isn’t as strong as Luster Pendulum’s in terms
of advantage, but it has the upside of being able to
destroy anything (regardless of other copies in the
Deck), and can even disrupt the opponent.
Being a Normal Monster opens up some neat plays with
Rescue Rabbit, Unexpected Dai, and Daigusto Emeral,
and having 0 DEF lets you revive him with Masked
Chameleon. But I think the best trait of Master
Pendulum is that you can summon him with Ignister
Prominence and not be restricted to using him in the
summon of a Dracoslayer monster, which allows you to
follow up an Ignister play with any Rank 4 monster
instead of just Majester or Dinoster. The inability
to Synchro Summon with him is moot since Master
Pendulum isn’t a Tuner, and the only Tuners that
Pendulum Decks commonly run are Masked Chameleon and
Luster Pendulum himself, so it’s not likely that
you’ll Synchro Summon with him anyway.
Master Pendulum is overall a solid card that doesn’t
seem like much, but nevertheless has a lot of
utility. If you’re utilizing the Dracoslayer engine,
it’s smart to run at least 1 (probably best to play
2 now since we may have Luster Limited for a while).

It's a weaker version of Luster Pendulum for
those who want a little more of that. Unlike
Luster, it doesn't search, nor is it a tuner, but
it's a Draco monster and another name for Draco
decks. It can destroy the other Pendulum Zone,
which in itself can have some use. It builds
up your Extra Deck, allows you to play an additional
Pendulum monster during the turn and can speed up
your plays overall.

Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer has better stats
than Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. Master is a
Level 4 Light Dragon-type Pendulum monster with 1950
Atk and 0 Def and Scales of 3. All their stats break
even until I discovered that this is a Normal
monster. It actually gets more support than Luster,
the effect monster, would. Master is also another
good(necessary) target for Draco Face-Off. 100 more
Atk than Luster is all that it takes to be "better."
However, the effect is arguably worse.
Master only has a Pendulum Effect which is to once,
while active, destroy a card in a Pendulum Zone.
Luster gets to do a similar effect once per turn and
then search a Pendulum card to your hand. Master
Pendulum, the Dracoslayer can target opponent's
cards. Another benefit for Master is that it can
actually target itself for destruction, potentially
getting it out of the way for a different Pendulum
monster in your hand. I wish there was a way to do a
pure Draco deck, but the versatility these cards
have make them an excellent resource in other
Pendulum decks.

Ah, don't you just love flavor text? It almost
seems like they're trying to make the Dracoverlords
vs. Slayers war matter in their fictional universe,
ala Magic: The Gathering. And really, if you are a
flavor player, you'd want to complete the set with
this card, even though he's only vanilla as a
Monster. But for the more competitive players, he
comes with a useful effect as a Pendulum Card by
killing one other Pendulum once per turn. Other
cards do a better job at nuking the Pendulum field-
Wavering Eyes immediately comes to mind. But if
control over the field is what you're going for,
this card has potential. At the very least, you
could Side Deck him for when going up against a
Pendulum-heavy deck.
Score: 2/5 for flavor and Dracoslayer theme, 3/5 for
Pendulum control
