Let me tell you a story about a game that my
roommates and I have come up with. It all started at
the Breakers
of Shadow Sneak Preview, where the store owner
tried to slip a Steel Cavalry of Dinon into one of
my roommate’s binders. After that, my first roommate
snuck a Steel Cavalry of Dinon into my second
roommate’s binder, behind a Qliphort Scout.
This then turned into a game where the three of us
tried to stealthily hide Steel Cavalry of Dinons in
places where they would eventually be found; if you
find one, you’ve been “bamboozled”, and whoever hid
the Dinon gets a point. We even doodled on our
Dinons in order to tell whose they were.
So, why did we create such a silly game with this
card?
Because Steel Cavalry of Dinon is
trash.
It’s terrible.
Its one effect is a negative effect, and it has
virtually no redeeming qualities besides being a
Pendulum Monster and having 2600 DEF (the latter of
which is mitigated by the negative effect). Sure,
it’s Level 4 and Scale 5, but there are much better
monsters with both of those stats. This is actually
one of the worst cards I’ve seen in recent times,
and quite possibly the worst Sneak Preview promo
ever. I’m not even exaggerating.
This card is bad. It’s absolutely bad. Do not under
any circumstances play it; you’re better off using
it to “bamboozle” your friends.

At best it's a 2600 vanilla defender, which is
nice but not enough for an effect monster these
days. At worst, it gets crushed in battle
against commonly used Pendulum monsters. There
are better Pendulum monsters to use all around.
Being a LV4 Dinosaur Pendulum can make it work for
some decks I guess.

Dinosaurs, that was a great TV show. Anyway,
Steel Cavalry of Dinon is a Level 4 Earth
Dinosaur-type Pendulum Monster with 1600 Atk and
2600 Def and Scales of 5. So this is the high Scale
counterpart of Samurai Cavalry of Reptier. The stats
are mostly the same as that monster except for the
Atk and Def. That Def is huge and has almost no
drawbacks. At least the Scales allow for Level 4
Pendulum Summons with no restriction. Honestly, this
card would have been better as a Normal Monster with
no effect.
Negative effects for an underdeveloped type hurt my
state of mind. You can enjoy those stats for
everything except against Pendulum Monsters. If
Steel Cavalry of Dinon battles any Pendulum Monster
in any position, you have to cut its current Atk and
Def in half. 800 Atk and 1300 Def won't do much, and
there isn't much point in investing in a defender to
keep it on the field. If Pendulum Monsters ever go
out of style, this dinosaur can see new life. Until
then, it's just a Level 4 good Scales monster.
Score: 3/5 For being some of the only Dinosaur
support out there.
Art: 4.5/5 For looking awesome.

Soooooooo, let me get this straight. On one hand,
you have a vanilla Pendulum card that helps bring
out Level 5 Monsters. Okay, no big deal there. On
the other hand, you have a Monster with low ATK
points but high DEF points, but gets weaker when
going up against other Pendulum Monsters in battle.
I'm sorry, but when is asking your opponent to
bulldoze your monster ever a GOOD thing?
Sure, even with its DEF halved, that's only 1300
DEF. Still nowhere good enough to save itself.
Perhaps I'm missing something here, perhaps there's
more use to this card than I realize. Excuse me for
a moment, while I do some research.
*leaves, comes back in a minute*
...Okay, so apparently the translators goofed. This
card is supposed to mirror the ATK and DEF of the
Pendulum Monster it's battling against, henceforth
it could suicide with virtually any powerhouse, so
long as it's a Pendulum.... THAT'S TEN TIMES BETTER
THAN THE EFFECT WE'VE GOT! Geeze-chrimeny-Christmas,
they'd better fix this! And soon, because for now
this card is utter garbage.
Score: 1/5 .....for now.....
