PSY-Framegear Beta
- #HSRED-EN030Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by a card effect, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When an opponent's monster declares an attack while you control no monsters: You can Special Summon both this card from your hand and 1 "PSY-Frame Driver" from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, and if you do, destroy the attacking monster, then end the Battle Phase. During the End Phase, banish the face-up monsters Special Summoned by this effect.

Hello Pojo Fans,
PSY-Frame week continues with PSY-Framegear Beta.
Plenty of ways to Special Summon this monster (which
is good), but the best way is its own effect.
Stopping an attack and ending the Battle Phase is
good, Battle Fader effect is useful. Special
Summoning itself on your opponents turn is good to
keep field presence, and Special Summoning a
specific (stronger) monster from anywhere is great.
Tack on monster destruction and this card is a great
card to use.
Unable to be Normal Summoned/Set is a negative, as
well as to activate the great effects it has you
also have to be monsterless on the field, and be
able to Special Summon “PSY-Driver” as well. If all
your copies of “PSY-Driver” are banished then this
card's effect isn't useful.
Good monster for the archetype, but useless outside
the archetype unless you also tech “PSY-Driver”

So now we come to the gears that make this engine
go. I picked PSY-Framegear Beta because its effect
alliterates so well. Beta is for Battles. More on
that in a minute. The gears are all Level 1 or 2
Light Psychic-type Tuner Monsters that cannot be
Normal Summoned or Set and have 0 Def. Beta is Level
1 with 700 Atk. Alpha is Level 1 with 500 Atk. Gamma
is Level 2 with 1000 Atk. Delta is Level 2 with 1200
Atk. Finally, Epsilon is Level 2 with 1500 Atk. All
of the raw stats are bad. The only important parts
are that they are PSY-frames and they are the only
Tuners the deck has.
PSY-Framegear Beta is a Hand Trap that activates
during your opponent's turn. All the gears need you
to have no monsters and only work during your
opponent's turn. When your opponent battles, you
activate Beta. Beta must be Special Summoned at the
same time with PSY-Frame Driver (Level 6) to negate
the attack and destroy the opponent's monster.
Hopefully, you have Circuit on your side of the
field to perform any Level 7 Synchro Summon. Usually
you will summon Zeta, but any generic Level 7
monster that doesn't require specific material will
work. With the Level 2 gears, you would summon Omega
or any generic Level 8 monster.
Something worth noting is that none of the gears
have once per turn effects. In some strange scenario
where your opponent attacks, you activate Beta,
Synchro Summon Zeta, they use Torrential Tribute,
they activate a Trap Monster and attack again, you
can activate another Beta from your hand and then
Synchro Summon again. All the gears work that way.
If you activate Beta and they chain anything that
isn't a Counter Trap, you can still use another gear
because you still control no monsters. With Circuit
you could probably Synchro Summon only once, but I'm
not sure on that. Beta is an excellent anti Battle
card, I just wish the other gears' names worked with
their effects.
Score: 4/5 Emergency Teleport works on all the
gears.

Normally when I look at themed cards, I tend to
give them a high score based on their capatability
with cards within the same theme. This review is no
different, because PSY-Framegear Beta is a MUST in
its deck. It's a Tuner that helps bring out the big
guns, and its summoning requirement actually gets
you two PSY-Frame themed monsters this, and Driver
specifically for the price of one. How could you say
no to that?
Of course, you'll want to run all of the other
PSY-Frame cards in the same deck that you put this
one in; this is a theme that really does not mesh
well with others. With the Pendulum Magicians from
last week, you can have a little experimental fun by
splashing them with other Pendulums; this theme,
however, is far more linear. If you have this card
and want to play it, collect the whole set of
PSY-Frames.
Final Score: 5/5
