Daily Since 2002!

PSY-Framelord Zeta
- #HSRD-EN034

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; banish both that monster and this card from the field, but return them in your next Standby Phase. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 other "PSY-Frame" card in your Graveyard; return this card to the Extra Deck, and if you do, add that target to your hand.

Hello Pojo Fans,

We wrap up “PSY-Frame” week with their other Synchro monster: PSY-Framelord Zeta.

Easily Special Summoned in combination with most of the PSY-Frame monsters and “PSY-Frame Driver”, Zeta has good stats for a Level 7, with plenty of support backing it up. PSY-Frame Circuit can make this card in a snap and its first effect fire off just as quickly.

Banishing a Special Summoned monster once per turn, during either turn will disrupt the opponent's strategy and clear the way for bigger attacks for you. Rob your opponent of Xyz Materials attached to their monster, or force them to use more resources to get around your Zeta if they want to combo. They may get their monster back during your turn, but your Zeta will be back as well, and one turn may be enough for you to take advantage.

Returning itself to the Extra Deck from the grave in exchange for adding a “PSY-Frame” card to your hand not only gives you more chances to use Zeta, but also opens up at least one spot in the Extra Deck for a different monster.

With no restrictions in terms of needs to Synchro Summon, and one of its effects flexible to any deck, PSY-Framelord Zeta can be dropped in any Extra Deck that wants a monster that can disrupt your opponent.

We have reviewed Omega twice so it's time for Zeta. PSY-Framelord Zeta is a Level 7 Light Psychic-type Synchro Monster with 2500 Atk and an actual value for Def, 1800. So there are 2 Level 1 gears that work with Driver to get this out with Circuit. Honest is an option for the whole deck, but Zeta needs it more. 2500 Atk is the same as Driver and it's just not enough.

PSY-Framelord Zeta has 2 effects. If there is a Special Summoned Atk position monster on your opponent's side of the field, you can banish it and Zeta until your next Standby Phase. It's good to use this in reaction to something, like Silent Honor Ark detaching for the stealing effect. The second effect is from the Graveyard. You can return Zeta to the Extra Deck and send another PSY-Frame card from your grave to your Hand. Reutrn whatever you want, gears, Circuit, Overload, or Synchros back to the Extra Deck. Even though the first effect says once per turn, you can use either effect as long as you have different Zetas to activate.

I want to mention Soul Charge. Monsters summoned by Soul Charge are simultaneous, so you can get gears, Driver, or Synchros and then use them for an immediate Synchro Summon if Circuit is on the field. After a successful Zeta summon, you could Soul Charge the same gear to go into Omega. Another card that was released today that might work in this deck is Reject Reborn. It's a Normal Trap that ends the Battle Phase and Special Summons a Tuner and a Synchro Monster, both with negated effects. Again, Circuit can activate on PSY-Frame monsters to Synchro Summon anything. Try it out!

Score: 4.5/5 Go Zeta Go!

This deck theme... man.... such strong Voltron vibes it gets me.

PSY-Framelord Zeta is one of the powerhouses I was referring to earlier in the week; the whole goal of this deck is to throw your little PSY-Frames out of play, then bring them back to Synchro Summon. This one, Zeta, isn't as great as hid brother Omega, but he does have his usefulness.

For starters, he can clear the field of your opponent's Special Summoned monster, which would likely be something more powerful than this guy; the only downside is that you lose Zeta as well, and they both come back in your next Standby Phase. Stardust Dragon works far better in this regard, because he saves himself from certain doom once per turn. It would have been better if only Zeta came back from beyond play, but then again that effect would have been broken.

On the other hand, he can help replenish your strategy; when he's in the Grave, you can bounce him back to the Extra Deck and add another PSY-Frame monster from your Grave to your hand. I think the idea here is to bounce out your opponent's big baddies, then wash, rinse, repeat. But again, your opponent isn't losing his Special Summoned monster forever. So unless Zeta gives you a huge window opportunity to let you hit the opponent where it hurts, even for just one turn, you should make it count.

Between this and Omega, Zeta is definitely the weaker Synchro. But don't worry, my friends, I'm sure there will be more where this deck theme came from.

Final Score: 3/5- He gets a mid-score because he could be splashable in non-PSY-Frame decks, since they're not a mandatory part of his summoning requirement.
