Monster Effect This boy magician has the gift of seeing the natural lines of energy that run through the earth, which his people call the Pulse of the Dragon. His exuberance and skill put him in high regard with his mentor, the "Dragonpit Magician".

Hello Pojo Fans,

Dragonpulse Magician brings us back to Pendulum Monsters, and though it doesn't have an effect as a monster, its Pendulum Effect is pretty good.

As a monster it is a standard vanilla beater, 1800ATK, weaker DEF (900), and has the Spellcaster support behind it. Highly searchable, place this guy in the Pendulum Zone, ditch a Pendulum while you have another Magician in your other Pendulum zone to destroy a face-up monster.

Any face-up monster is available to target, you can recycle the monsters you ditch with Pot of Riches, and still be able to Pendulum Summon after you activate this monsters effect. It would be better if it were any position monster, or if you could target any card. Archfiend Eccentrick is better even if you lose Eccentrick in your Pendulum Zone.

There is some support in the archetype, but there are better Pendulum Monsters.

Magicians. The oldest archetype. This new wave of magicians are Pendulum dominant decks. Dragonpulse Magician is a Level 4 Earth Spellcaster-type Pendulum Monster with 1800 Atk and 900 Def and Scales of 1. These are some great stats. Pendulum Magicians have new support. I don't think it matters that it is Earth. Level 4 is always good for Rank 4 plays. Spell caster is a necessity for many of the cards that get Special Summoned just for having one on the field. Even being a Normal Monster is good because of the support that they get from the Graveyard if they end up there (Swing of Memories, Silent Doom, etc.) 1800 Atk is decent for a Level 4. I also like that the Def is exactly half. 1 is the lowest a Scale can be, so this card has awesome stats.

Dragonpulse Magician has only one Spell effect, which is fine. At the cost of discarding a Pendulum Monster target and destroy a face-up monster on the field. You can only do that once per turn, but I believe if you activate a different Dragonpulse Magician, you can do it again. This is what I was referring to about Pendulums ending up in the Graveyard instead of the Extra Deck.

Finally, the combos. The magicians combo with Performages, Majespecters, and even Saterllarknights to an extent. Dragonpulse Magician has a lot going for it and not a lot against. It's even easy to own. Go get some.

Snodin

Ah, what a lovely lady.

Pojo Staff Member: whispers in Snodin's ear

THAT'S A GUY????? …..Well, whatever. Still lovely.

Well, I can see why this, along with its brother, would be in a Starter Deck. This is part of a small but undoubtedly growing set of Pendulum “Magicians,” which have no doubt already made their mark on the anime- I wouldn't know, I gave up on the anime franchises mid-way through GX. Anyway, it coincides with monsters like it, in that when you have another Pendulum Monster with “Magician” in its name in the other Pendulum Zone, you can discard yet another Pendulum Monster from your hand to kill one Monster on the field. A simple yet effective move, and one that's bound to see a lot of play with the growing abundance of Pendulum Monster cards. But if you want me to be honest, this is only one half of a deadly duo, and we'll see the other half tomorrow.

…...Are you SURE that's a guy?

Final Score: 4/5- Excellent for Pendulum decks in general, better still with Dragonpit Magician
