Performapal Sleight Hand Magician
Well this is a monster that draws my interest,
though I can’t help but thinking it missed out on a
lot of opportunity. Basically a Dark Magician in
form, Sleight Hand can be special summoned easily,
which is nice, and has a 1-for-1 card pop. Konami is
all about the “once per turn” phrase, so I can’t
really call it a detriment, and it’s nice that it’s
any card, not just monsters or spells/traps. As a
light spellcaster, it has support, though not nearly
as much support as dark. If this thing had been a
dark type, it would have seen a LOT of action. It’s
also a bad break that this monster isn’t a pendulum.
I frown as I write this, but only because I know
that despite the weaknesses I just mentioned, this
monster is waiting to be used properly. Any
combination of “ability to special summon from hand”
and “discard to destroy a card” should warrant
attention. And so what I’ll say is that the stage
for this magician is not yet set. The lack of
Performapal scale 8’s is probably the main reason
Sleight Hand Magician isn’t as good as he could be,
but a ton of future Performapal support is obviously
guaranteed, which will only make Sleight Hand
stronger. Not only that, but he’s also a very good
generic spellcaster with the perfect level that
could be great just for his popping ability. This
monster isn’t very good now, but he has enormous
future potential, and we could very well see him
main decked in tier 1 builds some day. Watch out for
this card.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Performapal week on Pojo.com for our Yugioh section,
and we start off with Performapal Sleight Hand
Magician.
One tribute to summon a Level 7 monster is better
than 2, and when the summon is turned into a Special
Summon it is even better. Performapal decks can run
this card with almost certainty that they will be
Special Summoning it. The only catch is to use this
one-tribute ability the monster used must be a
non-pendulum Performapal, which there are many of to
choose from. There is also the alternative to
Pendulum Summon this monster through Pendulum
Performapals.
1-for-1 destruction effect once per turn is an added
bonus to this high ATK Spellcaster. No specification
to the card needed to be discarded gives it more
flex to its play within the archetype. There may be
better cards to destroy your opponents resources
with the same tradeoff, however this monster packs
some strong ATK and for one tribute it is playable
within the archetype. Special Summon it, clear out a
recourse of your opponents and then hit them hard.

Well I'm not going to enjoy this week. Peformapal
Sleight Hand Magician is a Level 7 Light Spellcaster-type
monster with 2500 Atk and 2000 Def. On the surface,
the stats aren't great. For Level 7, there needs to
be at least 2600 Atk or really high Def. Dark
Magician has more support than non-Pendulum
Performapals, so his 2500 Atk is more justified than
SHM. Light Spellcasters are fine, but this one's
effects just aren't good enough to warrant play.
Performapal SHM has an alternate hand Special
Summoning method by tributing one Performapal
monster that is not a Pendulum Monster. Performapals
love Pendulum Monsters. There is that donkey that
isn't a Pendulum or another copy of SHM would
satisfy the tribute, but the limitation is quite
annoying. So after successfully getting SHM to the
field there is one effect that can be used once per
turn at the cost of discarding one card. Target to
destroy one face-up card on the field. This can
target either player's cards, which is good to
extend combos or eliminate problems. However,
targeted destruction is getting worse and worse with
time. The limitation of only face-up cards
eliminates the possibility of destroying unknown
back row cards. Performapal decks should leave the
big monsters to be summoned from the Extra Deck, not
the (sleight) hand.
