Drowning Mirror Force
Here we have the next installment in the Mirror
Force series, and this one is sure to have some
opponent's all washed up!
While not all Decks will be able to benefit or
properly utilise this card, Decks like Yosenju's and
Kaiju's along with Greydles or Artifacts I'd
suspect, which can also quite commonly not have any
monsters on the field could actually hope to make
good use of this card since the activation
requirement should for them be less of a realistic
hinderance.
If you are able to effectively utilise this card
though, its effect is very powerful since returning
monsters to the Deck quite often is the hardest
effect to recover from since nowadays, since both of
the Hand and Graveyard are highly able to be abused.
Drowning Mirror Force doesn't Target either, meaning
that only the fewest of monsters aren't able to be
touched by this effect.
For those Decks that do run it to its full
potential, just resolving this once could well be
more than enough to ensure the Game, but for those
Decks that plan on keeping a monster(s) on the
field, this will be for the most part very
situational at best. And that's a good thing, it
hurts Meta/ Tier Decks while actually providing a
boost to Lower Tier type Decks.
Rating: 3.25. Its a Battle Trap that is only useful
if you control no monsters, very few Decks can
effectively run like this, due to this fact,
regardless of how good its effect is, and its
actually very good, it can never truly be a very
useful card and thus will only see very limited
play.

Drowning Mirror Force
Don’t ask me how the translators got from Rippling
Barrier Mirror Force to Drowning Mirror Force. In
the same vein of incredulous translations like Jinzo
and Mystical Space Typhoon, this one is equally
baffling.
The card is excellent though, the best of the lot in
my opinion. If it wasn’t limited to direct attacks,
I honestly believe every deck would run 2 to 3.
However, this is probably the top tech trap at the
moment. Outside of the staple Solemn Four and the
mostly staple Vanity’s Emptiness, there are a
handful of acceptable standard traps people will
throw in if they feel their particular decks need
trap protection. A few of the Trap Holes, a couple
of the other Mirror Force Variants, a couple of the
best floodgates, etc. This one takes the cake. It
doesn’t target and returns to the deck, and those
two aspects rule the current format. It’s still slow
and doesn’t prevent attacks on monsters, but that’s
just necessary balance. What is apparent to me,
however, is that this variation is an excellent
next-gen Mirror Force that, like its predecessor,
should stay relevant for a long time, perhaps
another decade. In fact, if I had to make a
prediction about it, I’d say this card will only get
run more and more as the game gets even faster and
moves away from spell and trap removal in favor of
all out deck-harmony for OTK potential.
There’s nothing wrong at all with running this trap
in any legit deck in the current format, especially
in local tournaments. And if your opponent has good
memory, Drowning Mirror Force provides another
aspect that is favorable to you: fear. Any opponent
who knows Drowning might be there, even if it’s not,
might hold back. And that, in itself, is an
advantage to manipulate.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Another Mirror Force-based card, another good one to
use in the main deck.
Drowning Mirror Force will sweep all your opponents
attack position monsters back into their deck after
a direct attack is declared. Avoiding triggering
effects off of going to the graveyard is a great
effect and will eliminate your opponent from
gathering resources or furthering their position on
the field by using their graveyard.
The only downside to this card versus those like it
is that it has to be a direct attack. While others
could be activated off of any attack, this one has
to be when you are wide open. It makes for a great
topdeck, and eventually most players find themselves
open, but there are other Mirror Force-themed cards
that can be activated regardless of direct attack or
not.
Still a great trap to use in place of Mirror Force,
may be worth running one in a deck if you have the
space.

So that should be it for all the Mirror Forces.
Radiant, Dark, Storming, Blazing, Quaking, and now
Drowning. Drowning Mirror Force is a Normal Trap
Card that can only activate when your opponent
declares a Direct Attack. Then you can send all your
opponent's attack position monsters back to the deck
to be shuffled. It would have been the best one if
only it didn't say Direct Attack. It's still great,
but you either have to be running a deck that
constantly has no monsters on the Field (Spirits,
Yosenjus, Psy-Frames) or losing. Try to combine this
with Torrential Tribute and anything immune to
destruction will attack and be sent back to the
deck.
Score: 4/5 In certain decks.
Art: 3/5 I guess blue equals water.

How many more Mirror Forces do we need, Konami. How.
Many. More?
That little tidbit aside, Drowning Mirror Force is
quite possibly one of the best versions of this card
I've seen ever; instead of killing all opposing
monsters during the battle phase, it recycles them
into the deck. Not the hand, the DECK. This is
especially useful when we're talking about
high-level monsters that took the opponent a lot of
hard work to get onto the field, not to mention
bouncing Synchros and Exeeds back into their Extra
Deck as well (I'm pretty sure that's how it works).
So unless your opponent manages to cancel or nuke
this before battle, you could potentially force him
to start from scratch while leaving him wide open
next turn. Finally, a Mirror Force I can get
behind..... besides the original one.
Final Score: 5/5
