Monster Effect You can discard this card, then target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone, whose current Pendulum Scale is different from its original Pendulum Scale; its Pendulum Scale becomes its original Pendulum Scale until the end of this turn.

Wisdom-Eye Magician
The monster effect isn't as important, but due to
the Pendulum Effect, this card is a quick searcher
for any "Magician" Pendulum monster and it places
itself in the Extra Deck so it can be revived.
With Magician and Performapal Pendulum decks
dominating the scene, limiting this card was a good
way to balance things out. However, due to
Magician Pendulums no longer being tier 1 (or tier
2, according to tournament data), this card is not
quite as good as it once was.

Wisdom-Eye Magician is an okay monster on its
own, but like most Pendulum Monsters, benefits from
being in the Pendulum Zone more than in the Monster
Zone.
Nothing jumps out about its stats as a monster.
Standard ATK/DEF, Attribute, Type support. Ability
to change a scale of yours that is different than
its original for a turn can be a handy option to
have, but most of the time if you changed your scale
it was willingly. As for its Pendulum Effect,
popping to search is a common effect within the
Pendulum Monster realm. You likely will always have
a “Magician” or “Performapal” in your Pendulum Zone
to use this effect. 11 total choices for this card
to make with this Pendulum Effect. Some protect your
Pendulum Monsters from spell/trap cards, while
others can alter the rank of Xyz monsters you
control or make them able to be used as materials.
Others will alter your scale or add resources to
your hand.
It is obvious why this monster was limited to one:
it gave you too many options as a player to be a
“balanced” card. With the pool of potential monsters
able to be searched by this card so high, something
had to be done.

Today we review another limited card, Wisdom-Eye
Magician. He has very searchable stats (in
traditional) with 1500 Atk and 1500 Def. He is a
Level 4 Light Spellcaster-type Pendulum monster with
Scales of 5. Level 4 is the best level for Pendulums
and he has the high scales. Now why was this guy
limited? Must be the effects.
His monster effect isn't great because of the cost.
Discarding Pendulum monsters puts them in the
Graveyard where they don't want to be. All you get
for that discard is to turn one of your scales back
to its original scale. Some scales do change when
their corresponding monster isn't on the other
scale, so this could fix that, but again, you'd only
be fixing it until the end of the turn you discard
Wisdom-Eye Magician. His Pendulum effect is yet
another way that Pendulums get to put themselves
into the Extra Deck while maintaining advantage and
field presence. He destroys himself while you have a
Magician or Performapal as your other scale so you
can place a Magician scale except himself. He
doesn't have to do this only once per turn, so if
you had another Wisdom-Eye Magician in your hand,
you could do it again.
I believe this is an OCG limit and not a TCG limit
because they have and use more Magician pendulum
monsters. That being said, I can still see why this
card of that archetype received a limit.

We continue our first banlist week with a card
that some people were surprised to see hit:
Wisdom-Eye Magician.
This card did not see a lot of play due to Magician
Decks not being popular in the metagame. However,
Wisdom-Eye Magician was a very powerful card that
provided both consistency and power to the Magician
Deck, being able to search whatever Magician you
needed while also loading a Level 4 monster in your
Extra Deck.
In DracoPals, Wisdom-Eye Magician could also be used
in conjunction with Rescue Hamster to quickly load
your Extra Deck, although this build was not as
popular as the Guiding Ariadne build.
All things considered, the Limit on Wisdom-Eye
Magician wasn’t necessarily warranted, but it did
provide an extra curb to Pendulum Decks, and the
card would have likely become an issue later on if
he had been left unchecked.

don't get why this card was restricted at all. It
seems like it's more of a burden to its theme. Not
only does it have weak battle stats (1500 all
around, though that makes it fetch-worthy), but it
also destroys itself when paired up with another
Magician or a Performapal in the Pendulumn Zones.
Granted, you basically get a free Magician from the
deck as a result, and this effect is optional, but
couldn't you just summon a high-level Magician into
the Pendulumn Zone anyway? …....Yeah, you're right,
a free mage straight from the deck does sound really
good.
Now look at its
Monster effect: by discarding Wisdom Eye, you power
down a Pendulumn card from whatever scale you've
boosted it to, to its original scale. If we're
talking about a 3-scale card that went up to 7 or 8,
then back down to 3, that seems extremely
counter-productive to me.
Now, the mage
himself has a scale of 5, which really isn't that
bad when you think about it. Most level 5 monsters
have good battle stats, and you'd certainly want to
open your game with them. But there are certainly
better scales to work with, which is another reason
why I'm so confused about this card's restriction.
I'm going to assume it's because of its deck search
primarily. And even that's a stretch, as
Performapals in particular aren't exactly the most
popular monsters.
….Unless I'm wrong.
