Vermillion Dragon Mech

A generic level 9 synchro monster that only needs two material? Buh-bye Chao Feng. Hello, Vermillion Dragon Mech! This monster is really amazing, and I’ll tell you why: because not only is it the best generic level 9 synchro in a pool that is as sparse as a dead field, but it replaces itself with an instant refreshment of the hand.

There are so many ways to use this solid monster. From Kurakuri to plant decks, this is just what the doctor ordered for replenishing the important tuners that you spend a lot of time getting to your hand in the first place. And don’t even get me started on how great this monster is for zombies. How many times do you summon Uni-Zombie to an empty field, wishing you had another target for his effect? You either forgo using both of his effects, or you pump him to level 5, which you hardly ever wanted. Well, now you can go right ahead! And instead of synchro-summoning Omega or Beelze, you can summon Vermillion, pop a card, and have a good chance at getting Uni-Zombie back.

Look, I understand he’s just a simple 2700 ATK monster that targets, and that it destroys instead of bouncing or banishing, blah, blah, blah. But in the absence of better cards, this is a shiny new toy that offers real presence when you have potential of 9 on the field. Outside of Yang Zing, no one was gonna run Chao Feng, and Trishula needs three monsters. I know each of you reading this knows exactly what I’m talking about. Vermillion represents a real option that we’ve never had before.

Baneful

Strong attack power. Can destroy cards. Simple but versatile. Replaces itself when destroyed, but you would want to find a way to destroy it yourself if your opponent would use non-destructive removal. Good, but not groundbreaking, card for Synchro decks all around.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Vermillion Dragon Mech is a monster designed for a Tuner-heavy deck.

Easy to Synchro Summon for a Level 9, Machine support is behind this FIRE Attribute. Alright ATK for a Level 9, would like to see it higher, but only needing a Tuner and 1 or more non-Tuner monsters makes up for that.

1-for-1 destruction ability revolving around Tuners. Flexibility to use a Tuner from hand, field, or grave to banish is great, as you should have one in the grave from your Synchro Summon of this monster. Any card can be targeted on the field, so you can also use this effect to clear a spot on your field and trigger an effect to spur a move.

Replaces itself with a Tuner to your hand that was banished once it is destroyed, but only if it's by a card effect. There are plenty of ways for this monster to die via card effect, so that shouldn't be a problem, and 2700 ATK is pretty strong, so it is likely that this monster will go down from a card effect.

With the Extra Deck packed as is, if you are Synchro Summoning anything that is Level 9, it's Trish.

This card is very straightforward. Vermillion Dragon Mech is a Level 9 Fire Machine-type Synchro Monster with 2700 Atk and 1800 Def. Those stats are bad. Level 9 should have at least 3200 Atk. Even the Def is too low. Fire is fine, and Machines are well supported. As a Synchro Monster, I'm glad it's generic by requiring any 1 tuner and any 1 non tuner. The effects are just as meh as the stats.

Vermillion Dragon Mech has 2 effects. Once per turn you can banish a Tuner from anywhere except the Deck to target and destroy 1 card on the field. There should be at least 1 Tuner in the grave after summoning this to pay the cost. It's also good that this effect can be activated no matter how Vermillion Dragon Mech is summoned. The second effect is that it floats in the grave when destroyed by card effect to return a banished Tuner to the hand. This effect only works after a successful Synchro Summon. It's a shame that it doesn't get anything if destroyed by battle, but like I said, meh card is meh. It looks amazing but it won't be making much steam.
