Crystron Ametrix
Crystron Ametrix is one of
those cards where I just feel it got the shaft,
either by mistake or by unwillingness to create a
monster that is too strong. As a generic level 5
machine synchro monster, there’s a lot to like from
Ametrix, especially as a water type with high ATK
for its level. But why couldn’t he have changed the
monsters to face-down defense position? And why
couldn’t he have gotten his special summon effect if
he left in any way, as opposed to just by
destruction? Are we really at a point where we’re
worried about cards being too strong?
The main reason you’re running
Ametrix is for the potential to synchro summon
Crystron Phoenix, which is the goal of Crystron
decks. Even in the OCG, which has Gliongandr (a
Trishula at heart), Phoenix is much more attractive,
not to mention easier to summon. And while there are
other generic level 5 synchro monsters you can pair
with Quandax to get out Pheonix, only T.G. Librarian
offers real incentive to do so, and he’s at 1. So
until Crystron decks get more support, Ametrix is a
must-run, which gives the monster a bright future
despite its detrimental condition. However, I say
“detrimental” lightly because his effects are by no
means ill-advised. They’re just not potent. It’s
probably going to be to your benefit a majority of
the time.
I hope Crystron gets more
support in the future, because at the moment it
feels like one of those archetypes that gets a brief
introduction and is soon forgotten (Amorphage, Black
Scorpion, Guardians, Iron Chain… breaks my heart to
remember you all). And should it get that support,
Ametrix will still be used frequently, unless a very
similar level 5 generic synchro comes along to
specifically replace it.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Crystron Ametrix is an interesting Machine-Type
Synchro for the Crystron archetype.
Good stats for a Level 5, a Zero Gravity effec ton
all Special Summoned opponents monsters is a good
effect, and with 2500ATK you'll likely be able to
take they down with this and other monsters on your
field of the field. If Ametrix was Synchro Summoned,
then it will replace itself once destroyed. It
doesn't have to hit the grave to have this effect
happen, which is always nice against banish effects,
and once you Special Summon a Cryston with this
effect (non-Synchro) and Special Summon it, you
could potentially bring out another Ametrix if you
have another monster on the field due to sevearl of
the Cryston monsters having a Quick effect to
Synchro Summon.
It is easy to summon, has a good effect that can
swing the game, and you could bring out another copy
upon its destruction if things line up your way.

The Crystron Archtype is a very interesting one, and
while this is the only one we review this week (I
have a week of them coming soon) much like
yesterday, not all the pieces of this family are in
the English game yet. Ametrix is a Level 5,
Water, Synchro Monster, also a Machine (as I believe
most, if not all these cards are) with 2500 attack
and 1500 defense. Generically Synchro Summoned
with a Tuner and one or more non-Tuner Monsters.
These guys like to swarm and Special Summon, and
you'll see part of that in the latter part of the
effect here. When Synchro Summoned, you can
change all your opponent's Special Summoned Monsters
to Defense position. If this card (after being
Synchro Summoned) is destroyed by Battle or Effect,
you can Special Summon a non Synchro Crystron from
your Graveyard. That Monster is targeted, note
that. But anyway, this is one of the stronger,
and better cards in the Deck, especially given
what's available right now.
