Zoodiac Tigermortar
- #RATE-EN052

3 Level 4 monsters Once per turn, you can also Xyz Summon "Zoodiac Tigermortar" by using 1 "Zoodiac" monster you control with a different name as Xyz Material. (If you used an Xyz Monster, any Xyz Materials attached to it also become Xyz Materials on this card.) This card gains ATK and DEF equal to the ATK and DEF of all "Zoodiac" monsters attached to it as Materials. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Xyz Monster you control and 1 "Zoodiac" monster in your Graveyard; attach that "Zoodiac" monster to that Xyz Monster as Xyz Material.

Zoodiac Tigermortar

If Zoodiac Ratpier is the engine, Zoodiac Tigermortar is one of the important parts. Zoodiacs as a whole are the sum of many significant cogs. Often, the best tier 1 decks are like that. Each part that does an essential function makes the whole, and the more you have, the better the deck. Tigermortar does one thing really well, and that’s attaching Ratpier to itself in order to summon another Ratpier.

That’s really all there is to her, though. She can, of course, target something else in a pinch, such as a Whiptail in order to get rid of something bad. But the reality of Tigermortar is that as Ratpier goes, so does Tigermortar. Then she becomes material for a better monster like Drident or Broadbull. She’s the classic enabler monster, but she will have zero reach beyond Zoodiacs.

Zoodiacs are crazy. One card equals XYZ monster? That's nuts and everyone knows it. And plays it. Tigermortar starts the craziness by requiring any Zoodiac monster to allow for its successful XYZ Summon. Crazy. Zoodiac material usually gives Tigermortar bonus effects. Additionally, Tigermortar gains Atk and Def equal to the Zoodiac Materials attached to it. If one of them isn't giving you anything, you can ditch it and target Tigermortar to gain a new Zoodiac Material from the grave. I can't even begin to expand on all the combos this card can create in one turn. Zoodiacs were created to be the pinnacle of abusable spamming of Extra Deck monsters. Honestly, I'll be glad to see that aspect go in the future. Regardless, Zoodiac Tigermortar is a necessary component of the engine and is worthy of a high score.
