Zoodiac Whiptail
So, on Monday, we had the enabler of the deck. Today
is the surprise and Friday is the muscle. Zoodiac
Whiptail is the only card in the theme that can be
considered a trap. For the most part, anything the
theme does is in the open and with purpose. Zoodiac
Combo is the only trap card it has claim to, and it
doesn’t exactly frighten the opponent. So besides
Maxx C or a standard trap, Whiptail is the only way
you could surprise the opposite player.
If you run Zoodiacs, you run three Whiptail. 1200
ATK is the best you can ask for outside of
Thoroughblade, and her ability to attach and then
banish anything it battles is exceptional. She’s
very much necessary filler for the deck, but the
monster is no slouch and is an obviously superior
option over monsters like Bunnyblast and Ramram. In
fact, I not-so-secretly feel like Zoodiacs wouldn’t
be anything close to what they are if Whiptail
hadn’t been part of the lineup, but you could
probably say that about a lot of the cards.
Unlike the rest of the Zoodiac monsters, Whiptail
has some minor potential for future decks. Since she
operates like an Honest for beast-warrior XYZ
monsters, there’s definitely something to be said
for that effect. There are quite a few, namely Fire
Fists and Bujins. It’s not much, but if someone were
to ask me which Zoodiacs they should keep once
they’re no longer tier 1, I would say Whiptail,
since its entire effect doesn’t reference Zoodiacs
even once. She’s the only one of the twelve Zodiac
sign monsters that can say that.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Zoodiacs are finally here and today we're taking
Zoodiac Whiptail.
Another Zoodiac that is widely targetable by several
sources: Giant Rat, Tenki, Invoker, etc., Whiptail
can become an Xyz material monster from your hand
our the field via its own effect. With Zoodiac Xyz
monsters gaining and losing ATK/DEF depending on
which Zoodiac monsters are attached to them,
refueling their material resource is important.
Attack with Whiptail, then attach it to a Zoodiac
Xyz and increase its ATK for more damage that turn.
Attach it from the hand on your turn for a surprise
boost and take down an opponent's attacking monster.
Remember though, you have to do this before the
damage step (as it does not mondify ATK).
Banishing an opponents monster eliminates resources
and avoids destruction or sent to the grave effects.
Less targets for reborn effects is always a good
thing, and with so many decks using the grave as an
inherent part of their strategy, taking away a
monster for them to use will always be welcome.
Also, Whiptail's effects works with any
Beast-Warrior Xyz, giving this card a wider range of
play beyond Zoodiacs.
