Wightprincess
Wightprincess properly recognizes how important
Wightprince is to the Wight (or Skull Servant)
theme. Because as fun as Skull Servant decks are to
play, they were horrifically slow before the prince
came along, which instantly pumped King by 3000 ATK
just by going to the grave. It’s very odd that
Wightprincess is level 3 and has stats just like The
Lady in Wight while King, Prince and Wightmare are
Level 1 with no original stats that are noteworthy.
Is there a progressive agenda going on there?
Regardless, it’s kind of a shame, because
Wightprincess would have done truly grand things as
a level 1 monster. On the plus side, she can now
team up with Unizombie and The Lady in Wight for
Rank 3 plays or bigger Synchro plays. And
post-Zelda, Wights might do even better since the
Extra Deck is just a bonus if you can reach into it.
Link Summoning will be available, but it won’t be
important. Only Omega (while he’s legal) will be
desired.
I’ve always liked the potential of Wight cards,
because they have this weird consistency to them.
Wight was first released as a nothing monster in
1999. Then King came out in 2005, Lady came out in
2008, Wightmare came out in 2010, Wightprince came
out in 2014, and Princess came to the Japanese in
2016. Regardless of how slow these cards keep
coming… they keep coming. And now King of the Skull
Servants has a max ceiling of 17000 ATK. Man, that’s
so dumb but it’s hilarious and it makes you want to
revisit the archetype from time to time. Especially
when zombies have been clearly defined as
graveyard-centric. Cards like Gozuki continue to
give potential to what can be a compelling deck in
Skull Servants. And let’s not forget that
Wightprincess’s second effect could easily be used
in any deck. I don’t know why you would, but it’s
something! It doesn’t affect your Link monsters,
right?

Hello Pojo Fans,
Skull Servant stuff front and center on CoTD with
Wightprincess.
A Quick effect to drop all monsters ATK/DEF is a
great effect to set up a big move. Ditch
Wightprincess to drop the ATK/DEF of all your
opponents monsters, then go off for the turn. This
effect alone gives Wightprincess playability outside
her archetype or the Zombie archetype.
Sending Wightprince to the grave starts filling your
grave with Zombies key to the Wight archetype. Lady
in Wight and a Skull Servant go from the deck to the
grave, there's your fuel for King of The Skull
Servants. As a Zombie, Wightprincess inherits all
the support for Zombies. Ditch her for her ATK/DEF
drop effect, bring her back with Mezuki or Zombie
Master, then fill the grave once she's Special
Summoned.
Great effects for her archetype, and a surprisingly
good effect for any deck to use.
