Abyss Actor - Superstar is a Level 7 Dark Fiend-type Pendulum Monster with 2500 Atk and 1800 Def and Scales of 3. Everything about those stats just screams average. Level 7 is easier to Pendulum Summon than Level 8, but not as easy as it could be within its own archetype. 2500 Atk is low by today's standards for a Level 7 monster. Scales of 3 are also ok but lower would have been better. I know that the Scripts can turn these monsters into better monsters, but that won't increases Superstar's score. 
 
The Pendulum effect of Abyss Actor - Superstar is to tribute an Abyss Actor monster to retrieve a targeted Abyss Script Spell Card to the hand once per turn. A tributed Abyss Actor Pendulum Monster will go to the Extra Deck and you get a spent spell to use again. Now if it could retrieve Traps as well, this would be something to admire. Superstar's monster effect has some meat on it. When it's Normal or Special Summoned, Spell and Trap cards and effects cannot be activated. This means no Counter Traps to worry about even if you Pendulum Summon this with other monsters. That's great protection in general and certainly needed in an under performing archetype. The final effect is a free Set of any Abyss Script Spell Card from the deck once per turn. You can activate the Spell Card if it isn't QuickPlay or it will go to the grave during the End Phase. Being put on the clock isn't nice but Superstar's Pendulum Effect could retrieve the Spell on the next turn. I would run 3 for the Summon protection alone.
