Abyss Actor – Leading Lady

Yesterday’s card of the day was the true star of the show, but Abyss Actor – Leading Lady is no slouch. As some readers might know, Abyss Actors have crazy good harmony with Metalfoes (as a lot of other themes do.) Because Abyss Actors are pendulum monsters that revolve around getting effects when destroyed or protecting from destruction, there’s nothing not to like. The only hard problem that Abyss Actors faced was that scales of 8 or higher were hard to come by. And that was quickly solved, as well, with Metalfoes Steelen and Volflame.

So, the deck hybrid possesses excellent methods of pendulum summoning on a consistent basis while recycling only one Abyss Script, the mighty Rise of the Abyss King. Recycling a single copy of a spell card… it was almost as if the cards were tailor-made for Metalfoes. So what does Leading Lady contribute? Well, the short answer is she’s a target for Metalfoes destruction and a pretty decent Pendulum scale with an effect that’s okay at best. She’s not as crucial to the success of the archetype as Superstar or Wild Hope, but she’s a solid addition.

I’m not certain of Leading Lady’s long-term prospects. She doesn’t cycle Abyss Scripts like Superstar, and she doesn’t search the deck like Wild Hope and Sassy Rookie, so I get the feeling she’s 4^th place and won’t ever be higher. But for the short-term, she’s a great add to a solid deck.
