Darklord Nasten
- #DESO-EN032
You can discard 2 other "Darklord" cards; Special Summon this card from your hand. During either player's turn: You can pay 1000 LP, then target 1 "Darklord" Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; apply that target's effect, then shuffle that target into the Deck. You can only use this effect of "Darklord Nasten" once per turn. You can only Special Summon "Darklord Nasten(s)" once per turn.

Darklord Nasten
As I mentioned in yesterday’s review, the Darklord
archetype as currently designed demands a lot of
minuses before you can start plussing. Unless you
can go into Ixchel, Superbia and Contact on your
first turn, you have some setup to do. Part of that
setup might just include Darklord Nasten, which is a
quick -2 for you when you use his effect. You need
consistent ways to get certain monsters into the
grave, and he’s the best way to do it outside of
Ixchel.
Yesterday, I went into the lengths players go
through to run the deck, so I won’t rehash. I’ll say
that Nasten is pretty much the filler that helps the
Darklord deck run more efficiently. It provides what
the deck needs to get itself going along with Ixchel.
Since Ixchel is only once per turn, Nasten is there
to fill in the gaps and get that pile of cards into
the graveyard that leads to the success of the
entire strategy. And while Darklord Amdusc can do
some of these things too, while only being a -1,
there is definitely something to be said for having
a higher attack power in this instance. Darklords
need to have those beastly power monsters, because
ideally they want to win quickly. Once the opponent
successfully wipes the setup of a Darklord player,
only Contact can reasonably be expected to provide a
comeback.
Unfortunately, I don’t like Nasten’s future. He’s a
level 7, which is a real bummer. And because he
doesn’t do anything particularly special, I feel
like he would be the first to be replaced by a
better card. Ixchel and Superbia aren’t going
anywhere unless they were to get restricted or
banned, but Nasten is one of the monsters where you
can’t help but wish he were just a little bit
better.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Darklord Nasten poses a heafty cost for Special
Summoning.
At the cost of 2 other Darklord cards, Nasten is a
-3 to your hand. You can ditch Darklord spell/trap
cards to Special Summon him, then drop 1000LP to
activate one of those cards in the grave and shuffle
it back to the deck, which leaves you at a potential
-1, which isn't too bad. Combo with Superbia to have
it in the grave for later use. Use Darklord Contract
and a Darklord monster for this card and you'll have
two monsters on the field and a possible Xyz if you
want to go Rank 7. If Contract is in hand, then
pouring monsters into the grave with Nasten isn't a
problem, especially if it is Superbia and another
Darklord.
It's good, if you can manage its cost.

Darklord Nasten really needed a nastier effect to
be good. He is a Level 7 Dark Fairy-type monster
with 2600 Atk and 2600 Def. So we have better stats
than yesterday's card, but still not Level 8. We
also have a Special Summon that costs just as many
cards as his normal Tribute Summon would cost. By
discarding any 2 Darklord cards, Nasten can be
Special Summoned from the Hand. That cost is too
high, but options are nice. However, the carbon copy
of yesterday's card for the next effects are much
less nice.
The same problems arise when we realize that Nasten
can only use each effect once per turn and can only
be Special Summoned once per turn. Paying 1000 Life
Points for a spent Spell or Trap is still good, but
the drawing effect from yesterday is better than the
Special Summon option for Nasten. As such, the score
will be slightly less. Being able to chain a Spell
from the grave as a monster effect is unique enough
to warrant a good score. I just wish the effects did
something worse to the opponent.
