Lazion, the Timelord
As I mentioned yesterday, there are several decent
Timelords. And unlike yesterday’s card, Lazion is
among that group. With the ability to take out a
crucial part of every player’s deck, Lazion’s
ability to shuffle the opponent graveyard is
probably more brutal than even Zaphion’s effect. But
the kicker that makes Zaphion better overall is that
Lazion is usually a monster that’s exceptional just
once. After that, he’ll be shuffling one or two
cards per summon while dealing mediocre damage.
So in the Timelord engine, how many should be run?
Well, by my reckoning, a combination of four to five
of any of the lesser Timelords is probably best.
Along with three Zaphion, three Time Maiden, and any
other combination of cards you utilize to make the
best use of them, they start to add up fast. It’s
probably best to have a toolbox of singles and rely
on Zaphion the most, especially once link monsters
are added to the extra deck.
Lazion doesn’t have that “it” factor like Zaphion
that allows him to be a nice tech option in other
decks. So, for the time being, his main deck
potential is limited to his own archetype. But he’s
an excellent side deck option, especially in the
current environment where archetypes like Infernoids
are still running wild.

We continue this week with one of the more
interesting Timelords in Lazion.
Go to my Zaphion, the Timelord review for the
standard Timelord stuff.
Lazion is one of the Timelords with two unique
effects, both helped Z-ONE beat Aporia in the anime,
but might not do the same here. If Lazion attacks,
you shuffle all your opponents cards in the
graveyard into the deck. This helped Z-ONE prevent
Aporia from drawing last card in his deck to give
him the win. In real life, putting certain cards
back to the deck can be good or bad. Thankfully, the
Battle Phase is optional. The second effect deals
1000 damage to your opponent if they draw. This
effect let Z-ONE defeat Aporia after he didn't draw
the card he needed. In real life, burn is nice, and
it can finish the game here.
This is a pretty solid Timelord, worth being a tech
choice.
