Giant Rex
Giant Rex is one of those
monsters whose names are truly confusing when
compared to their effects. With an ability that
allows for recurring revival from the banished pile
or “different dimension” you’d think his name would
have been D.D. Rex or Space Lizard or something. But
nope… Giant Rex. Okie dokie, let’s roll with it.
Luckily, I love his effect, and
it’s a card I could see being abused. Even at once
per turn, the fact that he can special summon
himself any time he’s banished from any location is
superb. My first thought when reading his effect was
to somehow combine him with Block Dragon, which is
an excellent monster that only lacks in support. If
only Giant Rex was a rock type! Anybody want to
bring back Gigantes, The Rock Spirit, and Gigastone
Omega? Yeah… all rock types. Giant Rex is a beast
out of its element.
But easily special summoned
dinosaurs are always good. Especially at a time when
dinosaurs are at the top of the mountain again. With
cards like Miscellaneousaurus, Ultimate Conductor
Tyranno and the new Double Evolution Pill needing
dinos in the graveyard to banish, Giant Rex becomes
desirable, even as a tech option. And really you
never need more than one, since he can’t double up.
He’s the perfect tech to be honest. Is it a shame
that Giant Rex can’t attack directly? Sure, but it’s
a level 4 monster folks. That’s a small price to pay
to enable access to the best XYZ monsters and
probably the best link monsters too. Giant Rex can
be summoned from the deck and that’s the most
important part to focus on, since both
Babycerasaurus and Petiteranodon can get him easily.
After that, he’ll be available for use over and over
and over, never capable of staying banished. That’s
bonkers.
Giant Rex is a solid piece that
was meant to add even more muscle to dino decks, but
it has enormous potential in future earth decks as
well. Or really any deck that easily banishes junk.
And any monster that can do that all while being
able to bring out Laggia is an A+ card in my book.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Giant Rex is a new Dinosaur for True Dino players to
have fun with.
A 2000 Level 4 still has to have restrictions in
2017? I guess so, as Rex can't hit your opponent
directly. Hurts the card, but its a Dino and EARTH,
which is hot right now. If Giant Rex is banished it
gets Special Summoned, then gets an ATK boost for
each banished Dinosaur you have. Ultimate Conductor
Tyranno does the banishing for the Special Summon
and Giant Rex should be at least 2200ATK. The
problem is that you want to attack each monster with
UCT to do burn damage. You can't hit directly with
Giant Rex, but you can still Normal Summon it and
Xyz and Synchro with it, and its Special Summon when
banished is good. Remember though, the banish
Special Summon is only once per turn, so you can't
spam it.
It's a pretty good Dinosaur, can be a good beater in
the beginning, and it can come back for fodder for
bigger monsters.

What a great time for the dinosaurs. Giant Rex is
a Level 4 Earth Dinosaur-type monster with 2000 Atk
and 1200 Def. It's ok that Giant Rex can't attack
directly. It's not perfect, but it's ok. Giant Rex
gets to come back from the banished zone with an Atk
boost for each of your banished Dinosaurs. This can
only occur once per turn, but Dinosaurs can really
use an extra beater and a good "Normal" play.
Dinosaurs have a number of monsters that either
banish Giant Rex from the field or from the grave,
but if in the future it can get banished from the
deck, it will still Special Summon itself. My only
question is if the dinosaurs in the banished zone
are banished face-down, do they count towards Giant
Rex's Atk boost? Pot of Desires is so good with
this.

We continue this week off with more Dinosaur support
following the new Structure Deck. Dinosaur players,
welcome Giant Rex to the family.
First off, Giant Rex cannot attack directly. 2000
ATK Level 4 Effect Monsters usually have some
downside, this is Giant Rex's, and thankfully it
doesn't make this card horrible. If Giant Rex is
banished, you can special summon him and have him
gain 200 ATK for each banished Dinosaur. This is
cool, as you can use Ultimate Conductor Tyranno or
Miscellaneousaurus to banish this guy and extend
your combos. This effect is a hard once per turn,
which is great to balance him.
This is a cool card to extend your Dinosaur combos,
defiantly worth playing at least 1 of.
