Gladiator Beast Noxious - #BLLR-EN021
When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, change the attack target to this card, and proceed to damage calculation. This card cannot be destroyed by that battle. If this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Gladiator Beast" monster: You can send 1 "Gladiator Beast" monster from your Deck to the GY. At the end of the Battle Phase, if this card battled: You can shuffle it into the Deck; Special Summon 1 "Gladiator Beast" monster from your Deck, except "Gladiator Beast Noxious".

Gladiator Beast Noxious
As we iterated earlier this
week, Gladiator Beasts are probably the archetype
most brutally stripped of function once the link
format started. Pre-link, Gladiator Beast Noxious
would have been pretty neat, serving as a hand trap
of sorts for Glad Beasts, while also providing
targets for the summoning of Tamer Editor, which
needs level 5 or higher monsters to fusion summon.
But that’s all for not. Without
link monsters to help them out, Glad Beasts are
completely dead. New future support could very well
come, and if that is the case, I’m sure Noxious
would be part of that future since Tamer Editor is
such a good card in a bubble.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Some new Gladiator Beast support wraps up the week
with Gladiator Beast Noxious.
Noxious can't be destroyed by battle, which helps if
you need to wall up against a boss monster and still
get your Gladiator Beast tag out ability. If your
opponent direct attacks, Noxious can Special
Summon itself and doesn't cause a replay, which I've
never seen. It forces the damage calculation, can't
be destroyed, then you'll get the tag out option.
Sending a GB to the grave as its tag in ability
isn't the good of an ability, though it can set up
Darius. Noxious's most attractive feature is
that it protects you from a direct attack and will
get you your tag out. I don't like its stats. Level
5 GB with 1000DEF and 0ATK on top of its Foolish
Burial ability for GB are not great traits. It is a
unique option for the deck to use though and should
be considered.

We end this week off the way we began it, with
another new card for the Gladiator Beast deck.
Thankfully this time, Link Summoning doesn't ruin
this card. I am talking about Gladiator Beast
Noxious.
Noxious is a Level 5, which matches Tamer Editor's
summoning condition. Sadly, the stats horrible at
0/1000. Good thing is that you won't need to Tribute
Summon this guy. When your opponent declares a
direct attack, you can summon this card from your
hand and change the attack target to this guy, as
well as this guy won't be destroyed in that battle.
This is really good, considering he does have the
standard Glad Beast tag out effect. If this guy is
summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast card,
you can send a Gladiator Beast monster from the deck
to the GY. This is cool to help get Bestiari in the
grave for Darius to revive it. Also, since Noxious
has the standard tag out effect, you can summon
Darius with him to revive the Bestiari you sent, and
go into Gyzarus. Though not as powerful as it was in
2008, Gyzarus is still a great card that has stood
the test of time well when it comes to what he does.
Noxious is a great support card for Gladiator Beast.
He is a guaranteed staple in the deck, especially
entering Link Format, which is today. ;)
