Silent Swordsman
- #DPRP-EN001

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 Warrior-Type monster, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during the Standby Phase: This card gains 500 ATK. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a Spell Card is activated: You can negate the activation. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 "Silent Swordsman" monster from your hand or Deck, except "Silent Swordsman", ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Silent Swordsman getting a revamp helps the archetype, considering LV monsters don't get much support nowadays.

Tribute a Warrior to Special Summon from the hand isn't a bad effect, though it would be better if you could Normal Summon this Level 4 Warrior. ATK boost during the Standby Phase is good if you can keep him alive, and the once per turn negation of a Spell is a neat addition to the Silent Swordsman lineup. LV3 and LV5 can't be affected or targeted by your opponents spells, and LV7 negates all spells.  Finally, a search and Special Summon ignoring summoning condition is very good. Doesn't matter the destruction, as long as the card is in the owner's possession. Silent Swordsman gets Solemn Warning'd, you get your choice of a Silent Swordsman from the deck. Skip to LV7 if you run him, or go for the strong LV5. You'll be running a few copies of each with the card, and run some Warrior-Type monsters to help this card along. RoTA, Silent Sword Sword Slash, and Photon Veil can search this card, but it would be so much more useful if it could be Special Summoned normally.

Silent Swordsman

Today we're taking a look at Silent Swordsman, a level 4 light warrior with 1000 attack and defence. Silent Swordsman is part of the Silent archetype briefly used by Yugi.

Unlike the rest of the Silent Swordsman LV monsters, this one cannot be normal summoned, only special summoned by tributing any warrior monster you control. And what do you get for that? Every standby phase, Silent Swordsman gains 500 attack. This gain remains as long as he's face-up on the field, so you'll have to protect him for a few turns for him to really be of any benefit.

Next, once per turn, he can negate the activation of a spell card. Negation is always good, free negation is even better. And lastly, if he's destroyed in battle OR it's under its owners control and destroyed by an opponents effect, you can special summon any Silent Swordsman monster from your deck, except itself. Which at this point would only be the 3 LV variants.

Silent Swordsman is good support for a very small and lackluster archetype. Sadly, this is too little too late. A few years ago when the game was slower it would have been so much better. But as it stands right now, when the game is looking at game-breaking boards on the first turn, Silent Swordsman gives too little over too long a time.

But he looks phenominal. He really captures the style that this particular archetype should have put forward.

We now take a look back at some of the cards from Duelist Pack: Rivals of the Pharaoh. The first monster is a retrain of the infamous Silent Swordsman archetype, and his name is... well, Silent Swordsman.

Silent Swordsman can only be summoned by tributing a Warrior-Type monster. This is fairly easy to pull off. He gains 500 ATK during each Standby Phase, cause 1000 ATK is pretty bad. Once per turn, this guy can negate a spell. Negating spells is always good, which is why Imperial Order is a very powerful card. If Silent Swordsman is destroyed by battle or by an opponents' card effect under the owner's control, you can summon a Silent Swordsman monster from the deck except this guy ignoring the summoning conditions. Now we finally have a better way to summon Silent Swordsman LV7, and since he negates all spells, he is really good, especially with 2800 ATK.

Good card for decks with Warriors. I mix this and the new Silent Magician (reviewed tomorrow) with Lightsworns, and it is really cool.

Cloud looks awesome. Silent Swordsman is a Level 4 Light Warrior-type monster with 1000 Atk and 1000 Def. He can't be Normal Summoned, but his only Special Summon option isn't too difficult. Just tribute a Warrior and you get a once per turn free Spell negater. Now, it doesn't destroy the Spell Card, so Continuous Spells will gain their continuous effects. Also, every Standby Phase, Silent Swordsman gains 500 Atk, so if he survives long enough, he could be good enough to just keep on the field. If he is destroyed you can Special Summon any Silent Swordsman from the deck except another copy of Silent Swordsman. The obvious choice is to go for Lvl 7 because Silent Swordsman's effect ignores summoning conditions. Lvl 7 will auto prevent your own Spells, but they can't all be Horus.
