Silent Magician
- #DPRP-EN002
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 Spellcaster-Type monster, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card gains 500 ATK for each card in your hand. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a Spell Card is activated: You can negate the activation. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 "Silent Magician" monster from your hand or Deck, except "Silent Magician", ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Silent Magician
Unlike yesterday’s card, Silent Magician is a wonder
to behold, and one of my favorite cards released in
the last few years. Not only did Konami firmly
answer the question of her gender after so many
years of questioning it by displaying her in full
glory, but it’s an amazing little tech card that
could be splashed in a wide range of decks.
Personally, I’m happy to see her get new support.
Silent Magician is historically important, being the
monster that literally wrapped up the original
Yu-Gi-Oh story.
More often than not, Silent Magician will be sitting
at around 2000 to 2500 ATK right off the bat. This
makes her far superior to Silent Swordsman, who
starts off as a sitting duck. Not only that, but if
you perhaps desired to run a monster to retrieve
with her second effect (which I don’t recommend),
Silent Magician LV8 is superior to Silent Swordsman
LV7. There’s a plethora of archetypes that currently
could make great use of Silent Magician. From
Majespecter to Wind Witch to Pendulum Magician to
Eidolon, spellcaster decks are full of monsters that
could make you a happy duelist by turning each of
any of them into a 3000 ATK+ beauty that casts aside
opponent spells.
Currently, the format is just operating at a
ludicrous speed. The top decks are so fast, it’s
easy to see why Silent Magician might have trouble
catching up at the moment. However, she definitely
has a future place in this game. Her effect is so
unique and incredible, it only takes the right
environment for her to be mighty. And for those
fellow COTD reviewers who rate art, I challenge you
to show me a card with a better picture. This card
is gorgeous in every way.

Hello Pojo Fans,
As someone who played Silent Magician/Silent
Swordsman back in the day, I love seeing the new
support cards.
Same effect as her counterpart Silent Swordsman,
tribute a monster the same type as her (Spellcaster)
to Special Summon her. The more cards you have, the
more ATK she gains. This can be a detriment. While
you want hand advantage you do want to play your
cards without any restrictions holding you back.
Negation once per turn of a Spell like Silent
Swordsman is handy, forcing your opponent to lose at
least one card that turn. Special Summon a Silent
Magician once she's destroyed, regardless of
summoning conditions means you'll be going straight
for LV8, there's literally no reason you shouldn't
unless they are all out of your deck. If you summon
her right away to begin you'll have a 1500ATK
Spellcaster, which likely won't stand up against
much. Like Silent Swordsman, Silent Magician has
good support behind her and can be protected.

Silent Magician is very similar to her brother
from yesterday. The stats are exactly the same
except Silent Magician is a Spellcaster-type
monster. Even the summoning condition is the same,
just tribute a Spellcaster instead of a Warrior. She
even negates the same way that Silent Swordsman
does. Where Silent Swordsman pumps up every Standby
Phase, Silent Magician gains 500 Atk for each card
in your hand. If she is destroyed, she obviously
will be getting Silent Magician Lv 8 from the deck
who has 3500 Atk and is immune to all opponent's
Spell effects. Silent Magician has a more immediate
Atk potential which makes her in and of herself
better than Silent Magician. However, Silent
Swordsman Lv 7 is a better board protector than
Silent Magician Lv 8. They score the same as twins
should be at the same Lv....hehehehehe #DadJokes.
Score: 4/5
Art: 5/5 Yeah, real good.

Today we're having a look at another Silent
monster, Silent Magician. Weighing in as a light
spellcaster with 1000 attack and defence, Silent
Magician doesn't look like much to begin with, but
unlike her Swordsman counterpart, Magician is more
playable.
Now, Silent Magician can't be normal summoned or
set, and she can ONLY be special summoned from your
hand by tributing a spellcaster monster you control.
Not so bad on its own, and she'd need a good set of
effects to make up for losing her normal summon
ability.
What do you get from this monster? First up, she
gets 500 attack for every card in your hand. And
that can be great. With her and a spellcaster that
you can summon out, on the first turn she'll be
weighing in at atleast 2500 attack, depending if you
went first or not. And that is vastly superior to
Swordsman's attack gain. You don't have to spend
resources protecting her to give her a decent attack
boost.
Like Swordsman, her second effect lets you negate
the activation of an opponents spell card once per
turn. And again, it's a pretty good effect. Nothing
game breaking though.
And lastly, when Silent Magician is destroyed by
battle OR in its owners control and destroyed by an
effect, you can summon any Silent Magician monster,
except itself from your hand or deck. That
destruction might seem oddly worded as other
destruction effect monsters just say "if this
monster on the field is destroyed by an opponent's
card", however this is phrased so that it can be
destroyed by battle from either field, BUT has to be
destroyed by your opponents effect while you control
it. Strange.
The option to summon Silent Magician LV 4 or LV8 is
good though, and with the support spell cards for
the "Silent" archetype, it might actually be a fun
casual deck to try.

Yesterday we reviewed a retrain of the Silent
Swordsman series and now we look to the retrain of
the Silent Magician and its retrain.
Summoned just like Silent Swordsman, only this time
you have to tribute a Spellcaster. Makes sense
considering Magician is a Spellcaster and Swordsman
is a Warrior. This card gains 500 ATK for each card
in your hand. Hopefully you keep cards in your hand,
otherwise this gal dies very easily. Magician can
negate a spell, just like Swordsman. Again, spell
negation is very good. If this card is destroyed by
battle or by card effect in its owner's control, you
can summon a Silent Magician from the deck ignoring
the summoning conditions. So when she is destroyed,
she can summon a 3500 ATK monster in Silent Magician
LV8, who is unaffected by spells. Yeah, that seems
pretty good.
As I said yesterday, I mix this gal with Silent
Swordsman in Lightsworns since they can summon both.
It is actually really fun.
