Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General- #MACR-EN023

To Tribute Summon this card face-up, you can Tribute a Continuous Spell/Trap Card you control, instead of a monster. Your opponent cannot target face-up "True Draco" or "True King" monsters on the field with card effects, except this one, also they cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. If this face-up Tribute Summoned monster leaves the field: You can Special Summon 1 "True Draco" or "True King" monster from your Deck in Defense Position.

Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General

Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General falls squarely into the close-but-no-cigar category and he’s actually a candidate for MVP of that league. With the ability to protect himself and other True K/D monsters from destruction as well as granting prevention of targeting on other monsters and special summoning a wide variety of monsters from the deck when destroyed, Dreiath appears to be solid on the surface.

But in truth, the problem with Dreiath is that his own effects sometimes work against each other, and with lackluster ATK power, he often falls victim to superior lineups. Since he can’t be destroyed by opponent card effects, it makes it that much harder to use his own search and summon effect. Now obviously, having that amazing wording of “leaves the field” (meaning he gets his effect no matter how he leaves unless he’s used as XYZ material) grants bonus points, but the real bread-and-butter of the argument against him is that you absolutely have to tribute summon him to make the best use of him, and there are better and more efficient cards out there to bring out True Kings or True Dracos, especially when Dreiath puts them in defense mode. He’s simply useless in the graveyard, unlike several other monsters in the theme, and is therefore a poor target for True King’s Return.

I have to modify my review a bit, however, because there are times when I read a card and know that it should be good, even though people aren’t using it very much. And this is one of those times. I think it’s easy to look at all the busted True K/D cards and put anything but the most desirable on the back burners, but Dreiath has several superb effects, and the fact that he can be tributed using a spell or trap shouldn’t be lost to the reader just because a lot of others in the archetype can do it. I wish I could give this monster a good score, but I definitely bumped his future potential up because he might plug up some holes left by restricted/banned lists.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General is an easily summoned monster that offers great protection to the archetype.

One Continuous Spell/Trap is nothing to summon Dreiath III. 2800DEF is good, but 2100ATK isn't for a Level 6. True Draco and True King monsters are protected from targeting and destruction with Dreiath III on the field. Dreiath III can sit in defense and protect your True King and True Dracos as they slam your opponent without fear of Mirror Force, Book of Moon, Drident, or Tornado Dragon. If Dreiath III leaves the field in any way it replaces itself with a True Draco or True King in defense position. You can just replace Dreiath III with another copy of itself and continue the protection. As an EARTH Attribute its fair game for Lithosagym fodder.

The protection it offers is great for the archetypes, but its lack of ATK power makes it an easy target unless in defense.

Today we're taking a look at Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General, a level 6 earth wyrm with 2100 attack and 2800 defence.

He's got a pretty simple and quick set of effects. First off, you can tribute summon him by tributing a continuous spell or trap, like the majority of his brethren. Second, he comes with a built-in protection effect for all other True Draco monsters, preventing your opponent from targetting or destroying other True Dracos you control with effects. So, definitely the Draco that came out of Majespecters, despite being earth attribute rather than wind. And lastly, if he's destroyed by an effect he summons any True Draco or True King from your deck in defence mode.

Short and sweet, he's another good addition for the archetype, usually being run in 2's. As a pair of them would protect each other from targetting and effects competely.

Advanced 4/5 in True Draco, 2/5 elsewhere. He won't be an offensive combo piece, rather a little wall to help out.

Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General:

We continue a week of Maximum Crisis cards with what I believe is the worst of the 4 level 5/6 True Dracos in Dreiath III.

With all True Dracos, Dreiath can be Tribute Summoned with a Continuous S/T, I have talked about this enough two weeks ago. While Dreiath is on the field, True Draco/King monsters can't be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects. Master Peace really doesn't need this protection and you likely won't get Dreiath on the field with another True Draco unless you want to give up more than you need. Finally, if this Tribute Summoned card leaves the field, you can summon a True Draco/King from the deck. You likely won't summon a True Draco from the deck except for Mariamne, because it is a True Draco for some reason, yet I consider it to really be a True King. Mixing the True Dracos with the True Kings can get clunky, so it isn't to promising to do this, which leaves Dreiath out of True Draco and True King decks.

Dreiath III, the True Dracocavalry General is a Level 6 Earth Wyrm-type monster with 2100 Atk and 2800 Def. The good defense makes sense since his protection effect only applies to other face-up True Draco or True King monsters. Only requiring one tribute of any monster or Continuous Spell or Trap is good but the attack is low. Then if he leaves the field for any reason you can Special Summon a True Draco or True King monster in Def Position. The fact that he can get himself is cool, but you can't loop the effect because it only works after Dracocavalry was Tribute Summoned. All of this adds up to meh. Protection doesn't win games and Special Summoning monsters in Def isn't anything to write home about. Maybe run one to trigger the Continuous Spells and Traps more quickly.
