Ancient Gear Catapult
- #SR03-EN021
While you control no monsters: Target 1 face-up card you control; destroy it, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Ancient Gear" monster from your Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions. You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up card you control; destroy it, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Ancient Gear Token" (Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0). You can only use 1 "Ancient Gear Catapult" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

Ancient Gear Catapult
Rounding out the week, we have Ancient Gear
Catapult, the last piece of new support that Ancient
Gears sorely needed. Being a normal spell card hurts
it a bit and slows it down, but anything else would
have made this card too powerful. And what an effect
it has.
While you control no monsters, you can destroy
one face-up card you control and then special summon
ANY Ancient Gear from the deck, regardless of if it
can be special summoned or not, or has some crazy
summoning condition. Afterwards, you can't set any
cards to the field for the rest of the turn.
Straight off that effect, two Ancient Gear monsters
come to mind, Golem and Wyvern. Golem gets you a big
beater with piercing and Wyvern lets you search out
another Ancient Gear card.
Its second effect lets you banish Catapult from
the grave, destroy a face-up card you control and
then special summon an Ancient Gear token to the
field. The token is fairly weak by itself, but is
still an Ancient Gear monster, for tributing off for
a higher level Ancient Gear or using as material for
a LINK summon in a few months time.
Whilst you can only use one effect once per turn,
that doesn't stop Catapult being excellent, and
long-needed, support for the archetype.
Advanced 5/5 For Ancient Gears.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Ancient Gears wrap up the week with Ancient Gear
Catapult.
With Ancient Gear Beast and Ancient Gear Golem
unable to be Special Summoned, this was the card the
archetype needed to really give them a chance. Pop a
card you control to Special Summon an Ancient Gear,
AND ignore any restrictions on the summon. This
cards screams abuse with Geartown to get two
powerhouses, one being an Ancient Gear you'd
normally not be able to Special Summon. You can do
this again by banishing the card in the grave, but
you get a token instead of a Special Summon from the
deck. While this may not seem as good as the first
effect, it allows you to use a monster you have
under Mind Control for the card, or you could pop
another Geartown to get the token, as well as
another Ancient Gear. The token is Level 1, and the
archetype doesn't have any Tuners, but you can use
the token as part of a Fusion Summon for Chaos
Ancient Gear Giant or Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem.
The restriction to having no monsters on your field
when using the first effect of Ancient Gear Catapult
isn't hard to get around. The second effect has no
restriction and can be used the same turn you use
the first effect, opening up chances to swarm.
Ancient Gear Catapult is a great card for the
archetype and should be run in 3's. It's best with
Geartown, so if you have Catapult in your hand you'd
best hunt Geartown down in a hurry.

Ancient Gear Catapult is a decent Spell Card with
2 effects. You can only use one of the effects per
turn and only once that turn. I wish I could say the
effects are free, but they aren't. The first effect
is to target a card you control for destruction (by
effect) and Special Summon an Ancient Gear monster
from the deck. That monster gets to ignore its
summoning conditions. All of the main deck Ancient
Gear monsters have synergy with each other, and the
cost can be any card on the field which might gain
an effect when destroyed. It shouldn't really
matter, but that first effect can only be activated
while you control no monsters. The second effect
activates in the grave by banishing itself to target
one face up card you control for destruction (again,
by effect) and to get an Ancient Gear token with
puny stats. Tokens are nice and they can be tributed,
but the token is just too small to warrant using
Ancient Gear Catapult. The first effect is also
nice, but only really useful during the first turn.
I'm going with average. Ancient Gear Catapult is
useful in the deck to summon some good cards first
turn, but it just seems lackluster overall.
