We continue Z-ARC week with an important Pendulum
Monster in Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm.
Darkwurm is a scale 5, which is ok, and it has one
effect. If you have no monsters on the field and you
control this in the Pendulum Zone, you can put a
Supreme King Gate monster in the Pendulum Zone from
the deck, but you can only Pendulum Summon monsters
with a Dark Attribute. This isn't a major problem in
Pendulum Magicians, as their future support has
mostly Dark monsters. This effect means you can
summon monsters from levels 1 to 4 or from levels 6
to 12.
Darkwurm has two monster effects that are a hard
once per turn. If Darkwurm is summoned, you can add
a Supreme King Gate monster from your deck to your
hand. The only negative with this is that Supreme
King Servant Dragon Odd-Eyes won't be searchable off
this card, but that card is already heavily
searchable. Second, if you control no monsters and
this card is in the graveyard, you can special
summon it. This is only happening if this guy had
his summon negated or he was an XYZ Material.
This card is important if you play the Supreme King
Gate card, so playing him is mandatory.

Todays COTD is Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm, a
level 4 dark, dragon with 1800 attack and 1200
defence. Being the core monster for the archetype,
it comes with a scale of 5 and a tutoring effect.
Darkwurm looks beefy and I think it would've looked
pretty good as a Super Rare.
Darkwurm's monster effects are pretty sweet and
simple. First, when it's normal or special summoned,
you can add any Supreme King Gate monster from your
deck to your hand. At present that's only 2 cards
with no more on the horizon, but it does help speed
the deck up a little. Second, if you control no
monsters, and Darkwurm is in your grave, you can
special summon it. Pretty nifty and lets you get it
back if its summon is negated or sent to the grave
from being Xyz material.
And then comes the pendulum effect. If you control
no monsters, you can place, NOT activate, a Supreme
King Gate monster from your deck in a pendulum zone.
That helps out too, and gets round a few cards
played that slow down pendulum decks, like Cursed
Seal of the Forbidden Spell and Anti-Spell
Fragrance, as your not activating the spell card.
Darkwurm is a solid card for a rather small and
lackluster archetype. I really want a boss' deck to
be something good for once, but sadly, Supreme Kings
fall JUST short of that.
Advanced 3/5 It's good for the archetype and with
decent stats, it's just not too good outside of
Supreme Kings.
