Well we continue the week with...
Tribute to the Doomed:
Casual Play: 4
Tourney Play: 3.6
Overall Play: 3.8
Pros:
Could it be the next fissure?
Removes any monster.
Cons:
Waste of Space?
Discarding a card from your hand.
RFP: Well, Metal raiders brings a lot of interesting cards, and this is
definitly one of them. There is really only one purpose for this card. The
purpose of this card is monster removal. MRD does that very nicely with
cards such as mirror force, dream clown(my fav card from MRD), and share the
pain. Also this card can discard monsters in reverse defense mode too, which
is a nice bonus if I do say so myself. And I ask this question? Could this
card replace fissure? Or is the con for this card to cost worthy for it to
be used? I personally think so, but only time will tell.
RFC: Well in MRD there are so many good cards that I don't know if fissure
will see as much play as when it was first introduced. I mean there are so
many good cards in MRD, and there are a heck of a lot more mon removal
cards. So I don't know if space will be a factor when or IF you decide to
put this card in your deck. The only real draw power to this card is the
fact
that you need to discard a card from your hand to use it. That is the only
thing fissure has over this card. So which one will you play fissure?
Combos: Monster removal + Tribute to the doomed= clear field for direct
damage unless they have a mirror force.
Thats really about it, I mean this cards only purpose is monster removal. So
I mean yea have fun with this card, it definitely will see some play. Other
then that good luck and happy dueling.....

Friday - Tribute
to the Doomed
Another good card from
Metal Raiders, TttD reads: Discard 1 card from your
hand to the Graveyard to destroy 1 monster card on the
field (regardless of position).
Personally, I still to
some extent prefer Fissure for the fact that I'm
losing card advantage with Tribute to the Doomed. Most
of the time during the middle of a Yu-Gi-Oh! game you
will be holding 1-3 cards in your hand, so TttD will
usually kill off half or more of your hand just for a
monster kill.
At times when your
opponent has a huge threat on the board, you will not
hesitate to play TttD. The fact is though, Fissure
could have done the job just as easily without any
drawback. You could say "Well, what if they had
more face up monsters on the field? Then your
Fissure wouldn't have been as useful", which is
very true. They are both great cards, but during duels you
will be wishing you had one over the other.
Another great aspect of
TttD is that it can also target monsters that are
face down, which makes it a very good card versus
stall type decks and the like.
The versatility that
TttD has, makes it a very playable, tournament worthy
card.

Fri- Tribute to the
Doomed
Tribute to the Doomed is the
upgraded Fissure. You get to choose the monster that
dies, but now you have a “drawback” – discard
one card from your hand. Peh. Ya know, discarding
cards, is NOT all that bad. Why, it enables you to use
your Monster Reborn sooner… and such. Although,
there are problems with Tribute to the Doomed. Lord of
D. will prevent it against Dragons, unlike Fissure’s
non-targeting abilities. Also, with the new decks that
are available, general beatdowns are the only deck to
use this extensively (and by that I mean three per
deck. Others will only need two. =P).
Rating: 4.7/5 – Hey, the
drawback is minimal and you can target it. W00T!

Come to think of it, I
should have given Barrel Dragon a higher score, like
around 4. This is because of the rating I am
about to give...
Overall/Casual/Tournament
Score: 4.5
What happens when you
take Fissure and IV it some steroids? You get
Tribute to the Doomed. At the relatively
inexpensive cost of discarding one card from your
hand (provided you can afford it), you can choose
which monster you want to nuke. That Fissure
destroying a face-up Man-Eater Bug instead of a BEWD?
Use this, and take out the rawr d00d. Afraid
of a face-down monster? TotD it before it can
use its (possible) flip effect.
And, if you discard a
monster, you can just bring it back into play with
Monster Reborn! Yet another useful
discard/revive combo.
The only time I could
see a problem with using this card is if your hand
is severely limited (due to it being late in the
game, or if your opponent is using Robbin' Goblin),
but that's the risk you take. If you want to,
you can go back to Fissure, and let the card decide
your target for you. It's your choice,
really.
Combos:
Tribute to the Doomed +
Monster Reborn = Either revive the monster card you
discarded from your hand (if you chose to), or the
monster you just destroyed! Destroy an
opposing monster and get a monster for free!
That's a 2 monster shift!
Counters:
Robbin' Goblin: If you
don't have a card to discard, you can't use this.
Robbin' Goblin will destroy your hand, especially if
your opponent can get multiple ones out.
Magic Jammer: =/
Casual/Tournament Play:
A definite addition to any deck. If you use
Fissure, I would suggest replacing your Fissures
with at least two of these guys. If you don't
use Fissure, use this card anyways. Use 3 if
you want to, if you have enough draw power to keep a
constant "large" hand.
NEXT COTD: Our second
week of Metal Raiders is led by a card sure to pop
up in many decks, Cannon Soldier. See why
Japanese players love this guy.

Whoo, we finish out a
great week of cards with another great one - Tribute
to the Doomed. Basically, it's a Fissure
that makes you discard a card, but allows you to
destroy any monster of your opponent's on the field -
face up or face down! That is simply amazing
in so many ways. You probably should play one.
An annoying Dark
Elf stopping your La Jinn the
Mystical Genie of the Lamp from wreaking
havoc? Not anymore. Think that face down card is a
pesky Man-Eater Bug? Kill it without
the flip effect. It's so versatile it's amazing.
However, it comes with a cost. A pretty meager cost,
but discarding a card from your hand can hurt you.
It can be countered
with Magic Jammer, but probably
won't, seeing as there are many more important cards
to counter. Usually the opponent never gets more than
one monster on the field, so this will often give you
direct damage. Or, if you have no monsters on the
field, or weak ones, this will buy you some time.
So many viable options
with this card, oh so little time. Again, watch out
for the cost and Magic Jammer, but
that's about it for the drawbacks. It's not
restricted, I'm somewhat sure, so you'll be sure to
get a few when you're dueling.
Rating - 4.75 It's
not unbeatable or all-powerful, but playing three of
them is probably your best choice.
