Ancient Telescope

Card Number - SDK 039

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale

Zap

ZaP here... I live to serve so this is meh card of the day...

Ancient Telescope:

Casual play 3.8
Tourney play: 1

Pros:
-You can see what your opponent has in there deck.
-You can prepare for the cards your opponent is about to dish out to you.

Cons:
-Wastes space
-There are no deck disruption cards yet.
-It doesn't allow you to switch the order of the cards.

RFP: Well if your opponent is playing one of the two viable decks, then you
can see which of the two he or she is using. If they are using the typical
summoned skull then well yea or they could be using a dragon deck. Then you
could save your trap holes for the lord of d's. Also you can maybe save
cards to prepare for the five cards that your opponent will be unleashing on
you.... C'mon people work with me I am just trying to make this card seem
better, it really isn't worth playing at all.

RFC: Well the number one reason is that it wastes space. You want to keep
your deck as close to the 40 card minimum as you can, and you can't do that
if you waste space on cards that barely have a use. If there were deck
disruptor cards out then this card could work to see what you were
discarding, although again you'd waste more space and space gets more
important as each new set comes out. The biggest reason why this card bites
the big one is that your not allowed to switch the order around. If you
could do that then this card might actully be plausable.

Combos:

Card destruction + Ancient Telescope: This works is that you see what your
oppenent is going to draw and if it doesnt really help them then you can
card destruction and get a good draw without worrying what your oppenent
has. With this combo you basically get to see what they have...

Well thats the cotd cya tomorrow for the next cotd.... OOKAZI

SomeGuy

So, is it playable? Afraid not. Maybe in a casual deck, but what exactly are you going to
accomplish with it?

If you could put the cards back in any order then it would be pretty cool. The problem is that it plainly states "See the top 5 cards of your opponent's deck. Return the cards to the deck in the same order.".

Rating: 1/5

Thur-

What a pathetic card. =/ Ancient Telescope allows you to look at your opponent’s top five cards. That’s it. =/ I suppose it’d be useful if you were debating weather or not to Card Destruction, but that’s no point in playing it. =////

Rating: 1/5 – You don’t play this card.

Overall Score: 2.5 (you can prepare for your opponent's next moves)
Casual Play: 2.5
Tournament Play: 2.5

Hmmm....  This thing is ancient, but it still works.  And it lets me look at the top 5 cards of my opponent's deck.  What good does that do?  If they have a Blue Eyes or something coming up, you can start preparing for it.  If you see a (upcoming) Mirror Force, you can prepare for that as well.  Unfortunately, as of now, there are no cards that can discard cards from your opponent's deck.  So, for now, it's strictly average.

Combos:

Ancient Telescope + something else = I'll think of something here....*thinks*.....oh well, we can wait for later sets.

Counters:

Deck space: This may not be worth a slot in your deck.

Casual/Tournament Play:
If you are afraid your opponent is preparing something nasty, you can use this to see what is coming.  Otherwise, it may not be worth it.

Verdict:
Eventually, this card will be useful.  For now, just keep it in your binders, but within reach.

Metal Raiders:
I don't think there are any cards here that can compliment Ancient Telescope, so you may need to wait a little longer.

TOMORROW'S COTD: Ookazi.  Let's burn some stuff!

GO NETS!  BEAT THOSE LAKERS!
