Butterfly Dagger Elma
A monster equipped with this card increases its ATK by 300 points. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while equipped to a monster, this card can be returned to the owner's hand.
Merry Christmas everyone! Try and bear with me here cause I'm writing this at 1 in morning, waiting for my Naruto fix. Anyways, onto the review...
This card may become the most abused card in the game.
As if the scientist combo wasn't enough, we get a whole lot more 1 turn KO kills with this one. Here's just a couple that you could pull off:
Elma + Gearfreed + Royal Magic Library: Draw your entire deck.
Elma + Gearfreed + Magical Marionette: Infinite attack power and monster removal.
Elma + Gearfreed + Fire Princess + Morale Boost: Infinite Burn.
Elma + Gearfreed + you have more LP than the opponent: stall until the time limit.
And to clear this up before people start using it, the Elma + Woodland Sprite combo does not work due to the the wording on the Sprite. It says to "Send an equip card to the grave" which is different that "destroy". Props to UD for the correct translation on that.
That's just a few that you can pull off. As you can see, all combos will revolve around gearfreed as that's the only way to generate the loop. Personally, I think that this card really ruins the game as there will be a lot more 1 turn kills that you will be powerless to prevent. It really sucks the fun out of the game. Undoubtedly, this will be restricted to 1 right away.
For most decks, this will be useless. But for decks that are constructed around Elma, I'd give it a 4.5/5 as it's the heart of the deck.
Ending with a quote from Edo, whom I agree 100% with on this, "If you know anyone that plays these combos...avoid them like the plague..." |

Super Rare
On perhaps the happiest day of the year, we have the honor of reviewing a highly sought after card that seems to have been lost since the release of DCR. Ah yes, the much anticipated, so called “metagame changing” Eruma, Dagger of Butterflies. But, is it really all it was hyped up to be?
Pros:
+Comes back after being destroyed
+Does provide some power boost
+The combos including this card mean instant-win situations
Cons:
-300 ATK boost isn’t really anything
-Doesn’t come back if monster equipped with it just dies in battle
Combos:
One of the most combolicious cards out there, this card single-handedly creates archetypes:
*Gearfried the Iron Knight + Royal Magical Library + Butterfly Dagger - Elma = infinite draw, Exodia gets an Instant-Win.
*Gearfried the Iron Knight + Magical Marionette + Butterfly Dagger - Elma = Infinite monster removal and infinite damage.
In my honest opinion, this card just fell through the floor when Dark Crisis came out. The main culprits? Cards like Vampire Lord, D.D. Warrior Girl, and the many Archfiends proved to be the defining point of the metagame, as the anticipated combo-decks made little to no showing in the environment.
Perhaps this card hasn’t been given a fair chance. I mean, Vampire Lord’s effect means nothing if you have infinite draw at your disposal. Beatdown decks lose all of their monsters when you get the infinite removal combo working. The problem here is that, this card doesn’t just work by
itself, but rather needs the aid of other cards to work. This means, often times, large chunks of decks must be changed in order to add in the Dagger, and many players just don’t want to change that much.
Personally, I think there are too many disruption and control decks running around to try out the Exodia deck, so if I were to play Dagger of Butterflies I’d go the Magical Marionette route. But either way, this card is no longer the infallible win condition that players first predicted.
In limited, it’s a simple 300 attack boost that will probably stay in the graveyard. So like, don’t take it unless you have to.
Ratings:
Constructed - 2.4/5 It has POTENTIAL but I have yet to see this card be broken in the current format
Limited - 1/5 Just mediocre here, plain and simple

Super Rare
WHYYY IS THIS CARD ONLY SUPER RARE?! Easily the most broken equips in the game. Let's take a look at the effect, first of all, forget the 300 ATK boost. Look at the second effect, whenever this card is destroyed, it returns to your hand. To clarify, if a monster equipped with this card is destroyed, the card DOES NOT return to your hand. the card itself has to be destroyed. Lets take a look at two cards from the last set, Magicians Force. Magical Marionette and Royal Magic Library. These two cards have a lot of potential when fully utilized. Now lets backtrack even more to Pharaoh's Servant. Remember our good friend Gearfried? Well, Elma makes his effect invaluable.
Here's how the combo works, have gearfried out with royal magic library/magical marionette. Then equip elma to gearfried. You equip for about 3 seconds, before gearfrieds effect takes place, but that is just enough time to put a counter on your library/marionette. Now elma is destroyed and returns to you hand. Equip again and repeat as much as
needed. Doing this you will be able to draw as much as you need, or have a monster with an ATK of a jillion.
