Wednesday - Dark
Magician
For a very long time
Dark Magician wasn't even close to being playable.
In the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh!, why would you want to sacrifice two Monsters for 2500 ATK when you could simply sacrifice one Monster and get a Monster of the same ATK power?
In that time, there
was absolutely no reason to run Dark Magician in
anything but a casual deck. With the recent
release of Skilled Dark Magician, all of that has
changed.
Ever since we've lost
the usefulness of Bazoo the Soul-Eater, straight
Beatdown decks lost much of their aggressive
power. Even though Skilled Dark Magician isn't
near as fast as Bazoo the Soul-Eater, it's still a
good replacement in basic Beatdown decks. The
potential to receive a Monster with over 2300 ATK
at no sacrificial cost is still there.
Keep in mind that
unless your deck is BASED off of Dark Magician,
you shouldn't run more than one copy in the
deck. With Skilled Dark Magician's Effect able to mutate
into a Dark Magician in your Graveyard, one
is all you will need.
In Limited, 2500 is still very good. Even though you probably won't have a Skilled Dark Magician in this format, two Tribute is realistically possible.
