wartortle32 Checkmate

Offer 1 Archfiend monster on your side of the field as a Tribute. During the turn this card is activated, 1 Terrorking Archfiend on your side of the field can attack your opponent's Life Points directly.

I had originally tried using this card in my Archfiend decks, but I never found a good situation to use it in. In most cases, it isn't worth the sacrifice of a monster to attack the opponent directly, especially with the effect of Terrorking. Terrorking allows you to negate the effects of the monsters that it destroys in battle. I find it more useful attacking face down monsters than attacking the opponent directly. And since you can only offer Archfiend monsters, you cant combo it with Witch or Sangan to gain something out of the lost monster. Besides, attacking the opponent directly, and not his monsters can really hurt you next turn, especially if the opponent can destroy your terrorking as he will have another monster that can attack you.

Rating: 2/5. I would avoid using this card, even in an Archfiend deck. The cost of it outweighs the benefits.

Checkmate... do you ever feel like Kazuki Takahashi is a little obsessed with chess? Anyway Checkmate is a bad card. Well actually it depends. You are offering Monster advantage for a 2000 direct attack. If you think about it you can have a Jinzo #7 have a United We Stand on it with an Archfiend on your side of the field. That's more damage [well 100 more] and no payment. You'll get the same results. 1 Magic card, 2 monsters. Yup. There is not much to say about this card. However if the card said:

Offer 1 Archfiend monster on your side of the field as a Tribute. During the turn this card is activated, 1 monster with Archfiend in it's name can attack your opponent's Life Points directly.

Still it wouldn't be a Game Breaker but it would be decent.

infinitekhaos Checkmate(Spell)
Offer 1 Archfiend monster on your side of the field as a Tribute. During the turn this card is activated, 1 “Terrorking Archfiend” on your side of the field can attack your opponent’s Life Points directly.

Having Terrorking with an another archfiend isn't that difficult to pull off. However tributing a whole 'nother archfiend just so your terrorking can attack directly isn't all that great. Besides, you WANT terrorking to attack their monsters, as he will negate their effects. If you need the direct 2000, just play crossout or raigeki, only one card as opposed to two (raigeki vs, checkmate+trib). Checkmate is right up there with skull servant.

((sorry if i can't make some card reviews, i have been having serious computer problems))

Tourney - 1.0/5

Draft - 0/5

Artwork - Never seen it.

Closing Line - Terrorking to D4, CHECKMATE!
