Falling Down
Destroy this card if there are no face-up Archfiend cards on your side of the field. Take control of 1 of your
opponent's face-up monsters. Inflict 800 points of damage to your Life Points during each of your
opponent's Standby Phases.
This is an archfiend version of snatch steal. The only difference is that you're taking damage and you can only use it if you have an archfiend monster. While it does allow for you to swarm the opponent with their own monsters as well as yours,
don't count on it lasting too long since there are so many ways it can be destroyed. In addition to m/t removal, you also have to protect your archfiends because if they leave the field, you lose Falling Down. Therefore, it would probably be best to save Falling Down for a final 1 turn KO with a bunch of monsters.
I'd give this 3/5 in an archfiend deck. The best thing about this is that it wont be restricted so you can play multiples in 1 turn, greatly increasing your chances for a 1 turn KO. |

Falling Down (Spell/Equip)
Destroy this card if there are no face-up Archfiend cards on your side of the field. Take control of 1 of your opponent’s face-up monsters. Inflict 800 points of damage to your Life Points during each of your opponent’s Standby Phases.
In an Archfiend deck, what’s NOT to like about this card?
Pros:
+Take opponent’s monster
+Burn effect
+One for one = good versatility
Cons:
-Equip, meaning spell/trap removal can destroy before you get to use it
-Must have a face-up Archfiend on your side of the field (can be played around)
Combos:
*Umm like…use archfiends…yea
So basically, as long as you have an Archfiend out, this is a snatch steal. But ALSO you don’t have to give you opponent 1000 during their standby, but rather you BURN them for 800. So it’s a 1800 LP turnaround from Snatch Steal.
I’ll take it. I have out an Archfiend Soldier (1900 ATK). I “Falling Down” (weird to say, eh?) your Jinzo (2400 ATK) and attack you for 4300, then after you draw, you take 800. Let’s see that’s 5100 damage already…not including previous attacks or LP payments. YEA, this card is HUGE.
Unfortunately, you need these type of “control-shifting” cards most when you’re losing. And that’s when you’re least likely to have a [faceup] Archfiend on your side of the field. Also, your opponent can ring of destruction on your archfiend (if there’s only one out) and thus also destroy this card as well.
Drawing a Mystical Space Typhoon will mean negating the 800 burn effect AND returning the stolen monster back to your opponent’s control. Or, a facedown MST means if you played an archfiend this turn SIMPLY to steal your opponents card, then you try to attack, if they MST they more than likely have a more powerful monster out than you, meaning you virtually lost a battle phase.
However, this card is still amazing. It’s no understatement that the collective Archfiend group is a powerful hitting bunch of cards, and this adds to that Beatstick feeling with an added threat to your opponent. Play at least 2 in an Archfiend beatdown deck.
In limited, I have yet to use this card, but I’m sure if you manage to draft a few archfiends (not too hard if you’re opening packs), then this card is a natural addition. But on its own, eh, it’s pretty pointless. Thus;
Ratings:
Constructed - 4/5 in an Archfiend deck, 1/5 otherwise (you’re only likely to either be playing infernal queen or archfiend soldier)
Limited - I project about a 2/5 here, not all that nifty since the pickings are slim =\
Hope everyone has a smashing New Year’s...no really...I’ll be getting smash-err wait...just have a safe…fun…night ^_^ I look forward to 2004 and more great card reviews! |

Falling
Down (Spell/Equip)
Destroy this card if there are no face-up Archfiend
cards on your side of the field. Take control of 1
of your opponent’s face-up monsters. Inflict 800
points of damage to your Life Points during each of
your opponent’s Standby Phases.
Snatch Steal's
retarded cousin. If you're using pandemonium, and
taking control of a pretty good monster, I think it
justifies the use of this card. If you've built a
decent archfiend deck like my good friend wartortle
-_- then by the time this card has eaten up your
life, you already demolished your opponent. Playing
this and snatch can be very devastating, especially
if you take control of their two best monsters. For
example, you can snatch vampire lord, and then fall
down on jinzo. Those two combined with archfiends
like terrorking and AF of lightning can win the game
in a matter of turns.
Tourney - 3.6 - if
used correctly
Draft - 1.5 - if you
pull this in a draft, good luck
Artwork - 3.0 -
nothing special
Closing Line - i'll
take your vampire lord....FOREVER!!! |
